I am grateful we are not as bad as some place like Duke.

But for the major college football programs in college football we are now the biggest joke of them all and it is not even close. It used to be Notre Dame but they made a homerun hire and are back on top after 20 years.

Now #TurnedDownTennessee is trending on Twitter with fans & people of all backgrounds across the globe are poking fun at the football program because there is not a damn redeeeming quality we have to defend ourselves.

Thank god for Peyton healthy playing tomorrow:salute:

That's what happens when you fire a highly respected, hall of fame coach with 100 more wins than losses. We, as a fan base, got spoiled. We thought we were entitled to 9-10 wins a season. We're learning differently now.

They should just swallow their pride and offer Petrino. What's he going to do, make the program look worse than it looks right now?

Oh god I thought the "FULMER FULMER FULMER" people were all gone.

They just hibernated and think Fulmer could dream about competing in this league. I guess they forgot he lost to Wyoming at home with one of the best RBs in the NFL.

TENNESSEE plays in the most difficult conference in all of college football. It's a lucrative job with many benefits. However, the job has it's negative points as well. Give it time, UT will get the right coach sooner or later. It takes time and patience.

In response directly to the OP, UC in Boulder,CO has more concerns than UT ever thought about. 1-11 this past season and dismissing the HBC after a 4-21 record over a two year period and the surrounding community that supports that program makes UC-Berkeley crowd look "mild". Be thankful your not part of that program.

Cal hired a decent coach quickly. Colorado had a coach on the hook, too, until Butch Jones reneged, thinking he now has a shot at UT. Which he probably does.

No program in the country has more bad publicity than UT right now. It's an unprecedented pile-on, blown up beyond comprehension and coming at the worst possible time.

I find it sad that I believe that any of the moderators on this site or some of the regular posters could do a far better job conducting the search than what we have observed so far.

The freakin' "insiders" with their Gruden fetish deserve some of the blame for this, as does Hart, of course We were never getting Gruden, but all the inside BS about a "done deal" with him created this hysteria on the boards that the national media eventually picked up on--and then when nothing came of it UT looked bad. That was a large, public emotional waste of time. Hart then chased Gundy, which was a fool's errand, before getting to the guy who he should have started negotiating with quietly from the start--Strong. While we talked about how hard it was to glean info about the search, in fact it's been far too public. The key to a search is to find three or four guys who are qualified for the job, who might be good for the job--and who have a strong likelihood of WANTING the job--of wanting to coach at UT. That's where the AD earns his money--you have to quietly pinpoint qualified guys who want the job, not run around publicly chasing coaches who are long shots--I speak of Fisher and Gundy. We've only been turned down by two guys--but because of all the publicity around Gruden and, to a lesser degree, Fisher and Fedora, it seems like more. Fedora is another example of a stupid idea: You absolutely shouldn't pursue a guy who just got a good job a year earlier--a total waste of time.

We are fooled by Gruden and these idiot fans. And we deserve this punishment for wrong hiring like Dooley & Kiffin. U cannot blame others just yourself.
