We need them to be good. There are always plenty of recruits in Florida. We can't have UF just taking their pick of the best. We may lose a recruit or two but then so does UF. I think in a weird way it helps us.

There's that positive spin thread I was looking for. Now if you'll excuse me... I need another beer.

We don't NEED anybody else... Before long we will hopefully be doing as we please, and have our way regardless of who else does what...

Someone else tried this point. Saying it is GOOD for Gran to go there to pull recruits from Florida... uhhh... I would prefer that he bring those recruits HERE. But yeah, I get your point. A good FSU does pull recruits from Florida... and from us. Just do it without our coaches bums!!

I as a Nole fan have to agree with this here.... sure.... it is a benefit to UT for FSU to be more competitive with UF recruiting wise, to prevent UF from being overloaded as they have been the last half decade.... but not at the expense of a very valuable coach like Gran. His contacts in south florida re priceless to us.... they are worth even MORE to you guys. Don't get me wrong, I want him in Tally.... but I am not going to try and butter it up and tell you his move to us would help you.

Many insiders think Saban letting Kirby Smart come to FSU without a bidding war is for this same purpose. He and Jimbo are VERY close... and they all think he is helping to build up FSU for these same reasons.

As for FSU not being good for a long time, I won't talk smack on your board, but I think your wrong. Look at our roster and numbers... our Offense was top 5 caliber this year, but our defense was horrendous. We are doing some SERIOUS recruiting to fill holes on defense for next year, including some very good JUCO transfers to make an immediate impact. I do not expect our defense to be stellar, but if they are just in the top 50, with our offense all coming back, we will be a tough competitor next year. Our only losses on Offense will be 2 receivers, but we are real deep receiver wise, everyone else is returning as of now. I truly believe Christian Ponder will be in the top 2 or 3 for the Heisman early season, and if he stays healthy will win it. Our line has been starting as a unit together for 2 years now, and all return next year, including the ACC Lineman of the year, Rodney Hudson.

Yeah, I won't make any ludicrous predictions here, as it will only invite a flame war... but I expect we will be very strong next year. We do have what appears to be a tough schedule with OOC games against Florida, @Oklahoma, BYU and our sleeper Samford.... but Oklahoma and BYU are losing a lot of players this year and I do not expect them to be as tough next year (as if either was tough this year).

Don't jump all over me... I am a UT fan as well, and live an hour from KVille... I am not saying all this to enter a &^%$ measuring contest. I just keep reading on here how everyone thinks FSU gonna get worse, and that just isnt true... we are on our way up :).

Some hints that I am telling the truth will be seen between now and NSD. We have a few more big recruits... TARGETTED recruits... who I really have a lot of faith in who will be committing. We have gained more Boosters in the past week since Bobby stepped down than we had all year before this week. The dead weight coaches that have hurt us this year are all going to be gone, and do far all the new coaches are looking REALLY impressive.

You guys did this same thing last year... and you guys did a great job of it... your record does NOT indicate how good you guys were, just as ours does not indicate how dangerous we were, since our defense rarely showed up. The difference is, our new head coach has been there 3 years setting this transition up, has players who know him and know his style, has his offense all good to go and REALLY dangerous.... the big question in this scenario is defense... but considering we are ranked in the bottom 5-10 defensively this year... it wont take MUCH improvement to make us succeed. We only lost 2 games this year by more than a score, with a defense that seemed to give up over 500 yards every game. So I expect the transition to be a huge success that announcers will be talking about next year. The Head Coach in waiting thing will be credited with it of course.

It's pretty simple really...you only have two coordinators and a recruiting coordinator on any staff. Gran and Wilson are former recruiting coordinators and legit coordinator candidates so they're going to take that upgrade when offered. Kudos to Kiffin for getting them to come and help us at least for the year. We'll replace them with younger, cheaper but good candidates. This will create better balance on the staff and probably better staff chemistry as well. Those guys are good but we'll be fine, perhaps even better off in the longer term.

all becasue what they did to Bowden, and I want Eddie Gran (if he goes) to cry when he thinks of why he left UT

No we don't. We need for all three FL teams to suck equally. If we have to fight three FL teams for recruits, it's not good for us. The fewer FL teams that are winning and staying out of trouble with the NCAA the better for us.

What they did to Bowden is no different than what "They" (us fans) did to Fulmer.

These kind of guys think they can ride some streak indefinitely and leave once they're ready for the retirement home. Doesn't work that way. Goodwill only gets you so far when your team fails to live up to expectations year after year, after year.

They fail to realize that their time is up, and want to linger around, collecting the fat multi-million dollar paycheck...while the program continues its slide into deeper depths of mediocrity. Fulmer and Bobby both overstayed their welcome.

FSU has always brought in good talent. Always. Florida just brings in more and Meyer is going out of state more and more to bring that talent in.

how will FSU being good help us? they are taking recruits that seemed to be vol locks, and now have stolen one of our best recruiters and coaches. Tallahassee can burn to the ground for all I care. FSU will be a mediocre ACC team until Jimbo is gone. Good luck FSU, you are going to need it.
