My thoughts...
In-State LBs are a crapshoot. We missed on the best two this past decade, imo. (Willis & Hightower)

I bet Dooley would have recruited Justin Maclin harder.

We could almost take care of our O-Line by signing mostly in-state guys (our best teams have almost always had multiple in-state O-Linemen)

Who would you like to have that we missed on?

What if?...

Last one should be 2010 not 2011

I think it is amazing how some of those players were rated ahead of others by KNS. (Rod being ahead of Hightower, Barrett Jones, and Cobb is just crazy)

I would say that is a testament to the talent evaluation capabilities of the News Sentinel. That's why they are reporters and not freaking scouts.

I bet Dooley would have recruited Justin Maclin harder.

Kiffin and crew went after Maclin pretty hard. I am pretty sure that Maclin himself stated several times that TN came at him the hardest. He just had little to no interest in TN.

He has got on the field a little bit this year as a true freshman at LSU, so that speaks to his talent level.

Would've liked to see us have some of the guys of need about now:

LB: Hightower & Maclin
OL: could handle Duke & Jackson, knowing we had no shot at Long or Bullard
CB: wanted Gene Robinson badly in '09

Great research...thanks for the work. However, most of these names aren't relevant to college football; an indictment of the overall poor quality of TN h.s. football.

looks like we swapped marlon brown for d. rogers, albeit in alternate years... who came out better? us or Georgia?

Wow, in 2007 we signed 10 out of 20, 2008 4 out of 20, 2009 6 out of 20 and last year we sign 2 out of 20. You can see the decline of interest in our program. Most of the recruits went on to play at some of the better programs. Would have been interesting, if we could have gotten most of the recruits, what kind of team we would have had. These numbers tell alot about the program.

wow we shoulda got Hightower, and why hasnt Rae Sykes Pannned out

I think its his size more then anything. He moved to DT this year with all the depth problems from injury. Rae just isnt really THAT big of a guy. Most DTs are in their 300s. Rae is listed at 270 which I doubt if he's really even that big. If he would have had 4 solid years here at UT and stayed at DE I think it would have helped him a lot more.

this year there will be at least 60+ kids sign to play with D-1 schools...

I am not saying that all those kids can play for Tennessee......but I know that some schools will get alot of players some consider sleepers..but will make major contributions to their universities....

Not getting Hightower hurts the most. Could careless about Marlon Brown. Agree that we can build our o-line mostly from instate guys... then supplement with the J James and Cosey Colemans from south of the border.

Shocked nobody mentioned more about wanting Golden. I'd have taken him, Cobb, Hightower, Jones, and Maclin.

Also would have gladly taken Spurlock & Hurst. Spurlock IIRC has been a starter at FSU for 2 or 3 years now and Hurst starts for LSU. Those two would help out our major problem this year OL. Add those two with Jones with Stone & JuWaun James and we could have a stud line right now.

What if....
