In the End, Were There Any CDD Supporters Left?

I was one of the last hold-outs for CDD. I did not want to see him go because of the setback it would mean for our program and its perception with yet another change and yet another coach.

In the last few weeks, though, even I came to admit that it was time for him to go. It was obvious he was losing the team, had lost his fire, and would never be the guy to get us back to where we need to be.

So, I'm just curious - were there any CDD supporters that held out to the end. Is there anyone who, even now, wishes he had not been fired?

Not trying to start a debate or anything like that. What's done is done. I'm just curious if there's anyone out there still in his camp.

Hitler had his supporters in an underground bunker at the bitter end (until they all killed themselves).

Insert Rommel reference...

I was on his side til the end. I do believe a change had to be made, but I was still sad to see him go. I believe he brought integrity back to the program and re-stocked the overall talent for the next coach. I believe that many coaches that are interested in this job this time around would not have been last time, and they have Dooley to thank for that.

I was with you to the end, but its obvious he wasn't the coach for the job. This season has been painful to the avid vol fans

But the bashing still going on needs to stop. He's gone, it benefits no one and hurts our program

Congrats on maryville's win last night

I wish he hadn't brought so much integrity that our DB's are so nice to the WR's and let them run open!

Not I, but on Sunday just within minutes after Hart's press conference, they seemed to come out of the woodwork. One of them saying "Shame on you, Tennessee." and giving everyone who questioned him still being here a dressing down. Haven't the means to track down who they are, but wouldn't surprise me if they went to church with Dooley, or something like that.

I was holding out hope, but the 1st half of the Miss St pretty much did it for me...... The door slammed when he pulled that wussy BS at the end of the Mizzo game

I was behind Coach Dooley until the Missouri & Vanderbilt games. Up until that point, he had won the games he was supposed to win and lost the games he was supposed to lose. He kept the team competitive in the toss up games, even though he came up short in most of them.

Even though I don't believe the losses were entirely his fault, I acknowledge that a coach cannot lose back to back games versus inferior opponents and keep his job. I appreciate what Coach Dooley was able to do in a difficult situation. He stabilized a program in complete chaos and implemented a personal conduct culture that I hope the next head coach is able to continue. I am most grateful for the Vol for Life program because of the message it sends to the majority of our players who will never be millionaires in the NFL.

I wish Coach Dooley well in whatever he chooses to do next. I'm sorry that it didn't work out in Knoxville.

Sad fact, but having Dooley coach a major college football program is akin to having an auto mechanic doing brain surgery. The poor guy was in over his head and U.T. fans paid for Hamilton's egregious error in judgment, one of several Hamilton made, but obviously the worst since football is the cash cow of the athletics department. Dooley is much richer but his ego has to be badly wounded. He should now concentrate on the legal profession, as he doesn't have it in college football.

He was always coaching this year, regardless. He had my support, just as chaney had it today, and whoever it is next year will have it as well.

Too complicated for some to understand since there is no hate along the way on the same ride.
