And in America we erect them??

Opposition grows to Stalin bust at D-Day Memorial - Washington Times

20100621-202130-pic-594222873_s160x240.jpg

What is wrong with this picture???

1. Stalin had zilch to do with D Day.

2. The Stalin/Hitler pact to partition Poland is the act that started WWII.

3. Stalin kept approximately 20,000 American POWs at the end of WWII and refused to return them to America.

4. Stalin was a murderous bastard even to his own people.

What I would like to know is just exactly who, including full names of the people who are responsible for the travesty of placing a bust of Stalin in a memorial to the courageous Americans who died on D Day!

Is there anyone on this board who things Stalin should be so honored??

whether we like Stalin or not, his role as an ally in WWII cannot be overlooked. Granted, he only became an ally after Hitler double-crossed him, but that's beside the point.

Well if you want a memorial to WWII political leaders then have one with FDR, Stalin, Churchill and De Gaul but not at a memorial for D Day soldiers.

I see it as a slap in the face, not only to WWII veterans but especially to Korean and Vietnam era veterans.

It is an insult, not only to those who died or survived the D Day invasion but to all their descendents as well.
