Just watched it for the first time. Honestly, I was blown away. That's movie making at it's finest.

How was it received by other fans of movies of the genre? Does anyone else have it in their list of favorites?

Also, what are thoughts on the ending? Do the final two characters in limbo shoot themselves? Does Cobb land in reality? Does the totem stop spinning (and does it even need to)?

I loved it. Wonderful. Oscar worthy!

I like to think he was awake and made it back at the end.

According to Michael Caine, it stopped spinning.

It was great. I had to re-watch it couple of times to get it straight, but I enjoyed it.

Michael Caine has publicly stated the ending was reality. I thought it was entertaining but very confusing. DiCaprio is the best actor alive IMO (Besides Day-Lewis). I think Inception was good but overrated.

Wow, overrated? I was really, really impressed. And, I wasn't really confused, at all -- but I watched it alone (after my wife fell asleep in 30 minutes, as usual). The ending left questions, but I felt that the boys did "wake themselves" and that Cobb had returned to reality.

Loved it, seen it in theaters, talk about amazing...even the best home system couldn't do it justice.

This is how special effects are supposed to be used, they did not take away from the movie in the least, only added.

The acting was superb and the story was original and fantastic.

Just watched it on the 3-d tv, and it was mind-blowing. Would be rediculous if it was actually made for 3D blu-ray. Gotta watch it again to grasp it all. Visually just outta this world, of course so was Nolan's last movie.

It was an interesting commentary on human nature. How difficult is it to plant a thought consciously or subconsciously? How much is "enough"?

I also think that Cobb made it back, but I need to watch it again. The film was very well done.

On a similar note, I actually dreamed about things I seemingly intended to think about last night (after watching the film). And, during the dreams, I "knew" that I was trying to include those thoughts.

The subconscious is a very interesting construct.

Same here. I didn't even think of them as special effects when I saw them. I just considered it as the characters were.

That's what special effects should be. The movie wasn't about special effects, the special effects just add to the movie as a whole.

Excellent movie!

Watched it a few nights ago.

Mysteriously Matrix-esque strange, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

guess i'm the odd man out in this discussion. i saw this a couple nights ago and thought it was pretty overhyped. i didn't care for any of the characters, and that usually kills a movie for me. the effects were pretty cool, but even then those can only go so far with me.

Thought the movie was excellent but I don't get all the rave reviews for Dicraprio's acting? IMO, he's flat and with no depth. He was the only part of the movie that did not impress me.

Just saw it yesterday, and I did not think the whole movie was a dream until he woke up on the plane. I think the whole movie was real, and waking up on the plan was part of a dream. He was still in limbo and never really woke up on the plane and went to see his kids. The spinning top fell during the movie, and if we can't believe the movie makers that it falls when he's awake, then what can we believe? If that were the case, I'd want to quote peter griffin and say, "it insists on itself."
I got into a discussion with several people at work today about this. We googled it and realized that it was supposed to be left up to interpretation. Interesting how so many people differ on this one.
Great movie, though.

I try to tell people not to get so caught up with whether he dreaming or not at the end. He gets to be with his kids, thats all he cares about.
