Did anyone notice that Marques Johnson and Wayne Chism have shown up quite a bit taller and thicker than listed? Here are the listed and actual sizes for the two:

Johnson-
Scout=6-5 175
Rivals=6-5 200
Actual=6-6 206

Chism-
Scout=6-8 210
Rivals=6-8 230
Actual=6-9 246(SEC ready body)

This makes me wonder if the other incoming recruits will come in bigger and/or taller than expected. Here are their listed sizes:

Duke Crews-
Scout=6-7 225
Rivals=6-7 235

Josh Tabb-
Scout=6-4
Rivals=6-4 190

Ramar Smith-
Scout=6-3 185
Rivals=6-1 181

On another note, hatvol, do you still believe that Johnson is a 2? From what I've seen from him in film and all-star games, he's definitely a pass first guy. He has a decent stroke and his size could definitely make for an advantage, but he is so unselfish with the ball. IMO, he will definitely be the PG if Ramar doesn't qualify, though Tabb could be a surprise.

That's odd, usually guys get smaller at a physical. Just look at guys that go to the combine, they always end up an inch shorter and 10 lbs lighter.

I still think his natural position is off the ball. He would have tremendous problems staying in front of opposing point guards. I evaluate players on what positions they can adequately defend. You can always tailor an offense to fit individual skills.

We'll see. On offense, I think we'll see Johnson at point, but things will switch up in a halfcourt defense.

You mean you're giving up on Bradshaw playing the point? You seemed so certain that was a good option.

I don't think he is a point guard, but he is an option at the point forward. That may be the position you see Johnson in as well.

you mean powerforward? We only played him there because there was no one else, I see him as a SF and not much more

No, I mean a point forward. He handles the ball at the top of the key but will be more inside as the offense starts going.

ala Scottie Pippen in Chicago
I'm going to go old school for this analogy. Comparing Scottie Pippen to Dane Bradshaw is like comparing Ava Gardner to Irene Ryan.

Yeah. Pippen is a hall of famer. Dane is the heart of the team, but in no way is he Pimpin. I do think he can control in the way SP did, just not near as good.

I would have said it's like comparing Ava Gardner to Ernest Borgnine.

Where did I compare Dane to Scottie? They are not in the same league as far as talent. But, the one guy was trying to make a point about Dane and possibly MJ being point-forwards. And, I was saying that an example of a point forward is Scottie Pippen. He was probably the best point-forward in the history of the game. So, while obiviously I am not comparing them to the best point forward to ever play, I am saying that is the position we are talking about.
