I'm new to the board but I always enjoy seeing everyone's comments. Seems like running is very spotty. Is it the O-line or the backs? And did anyone hear how bad was Coker hurt? Will he be OK for next week?

It was clear that Bama was stacked up for the run and we didn't really make them pay for the single coverage they were playing. In fact, I'm not even sure we ever tried to hit a deep ball all day long.

Don't think it is either. It's that we have set the tone for being a passing team, so the run hasn't been a huge role in the offense.

I think the stat I heard tonight on the way home was that Tennessee passed 46 times and ran the ball 21 times. It's obviously hard to have a running game with all the passes.

I have to give Bama's defense credit though, they came to play some ball tonight.

Word on Coker is a sprained knee, but I think it could be worse than that.

We tried to throw deep the first play of the game, but Meachem was well-covered. I think Bama played good coverage all game. I doubt they were going to give up much deep.

Bama stacked the box all day. Basically they were like the Vols are not gonna run the ball against us. And Coach Cut could not tell if Bama was in Zone or Blitzing....... As far as throwing deep Bama had two safties deep and wasn't going to let Tennessee throw deep.

I wasn't watching BAMA's coverage that close, but it looked to me like they were more zero coverage or cover 1 (FS) than anything. When I did look they did come out of it some, but cover 2 looked less prevelant. What did you guys see on TV?

A lot of Cover 1, but they were really mixing things up. In passing situations they went Cover 3 several times and were switching things up on the d-line with both 3 down and 4 down looks and zone blitzing. Joe Kines threw a lot of stuff at Erik Ainge today.

The thing is, the 2 picks that mattered weren't really a result of misreads or pressure. They were just bad throws.

Yeah, he is usually so accurate too. That was surprising.

Kines did a good job I thought.

However, the one thing I don't understand is that we never seemed to attack their coverage over the middle or over the top. We just kept throwing out after out after out. I never saw a slant or a post or a drag. What did it look like to you?

There was that one pass over the middle that Ainge over threw badly... the 'over the middle' passing game seemed to be abandoned after that.
