Anyone have advice to give? Induction seems like an obvious choice but wondering if it isn't besides just a pricing thing

Can't go gas unless we bury a tank and I just don't want to do it

I had a range once that had panels for ceramic eyes as well as panels for the coils. We always used the coil ones since we sometimes used cast iron skillets and other cookware that scratches the ceramics. Only time we used the ceramics was when we were showing the house.

Have you tested your cookware with a magnet to see if it will work on induction?

And the alternative is which, glass top or coils? Glass tops are beautiful for a while and easy to clean, until they aren’t. Also breakable.

We have a gas range (natural gas) and I love it, but I’m about to break down and buy a 12”x12” induction countertop burner to boil water, because gas is soooo slow for that.

Definitely prepared to get new cookware. We have a couple that will work though

New build so this would be instead of electric glass top. One of the biggest selling points would be easier if cleaning since nothing that overflowed would burn onto the induction top.

I think this is the one the wife was looking at

I probably would have gotten one when we redid our kitchen, but Hubs wanted gas (which I also like), plus I just like the look and utility of the continuous grids on the gas range. (We get excitable and sling things around.)

But induction is definitely the next thing. Fast, safe, efficient. It’s about all you can buy in Europe (or so I’ve read.)

Yep is love to have had again but just couldn't justify the cost since Ng isn't available. We did a house reno in VA and added a tankless gas heater and range. It was wonderful

If I had the choice I would choose induction. Just be sure your cookware is compatible.

I would go induction. I love cooking with cast iron, and it works fine, right?

I love my car iron but does it work? I thought so at first but I've read different opinions (some say uneven heat transfer leading to hot spots)

It's iron, should work great. Test yours by seeing if a magnet will stick to them evenly. My biggest concern would be scratching your beautiful new cooktop, but I have read you can actually put paper towels or parchment paper between the surface and your cookware, if you are worried about that.
