1. Our Seniors (and Brian Williams) put this team on their backs and have carried them into the record books. If you didn't already love Wayne Chism, how can you not now? I love the kid. :) :worship:

2. JP Prince was amazing -- and our coaches took their chances having Goins and Maze guard Turner, avoiding the JP foul disaster we would have had if he had fouled out. And he made play after play on Turner, including the biggest defensive play in the history of UT basketball. :clapping:

3. Brian Williams. 12 boards and 4 of 5 from the field. Wow. Who would have thought that Williams makes the offensive play of the game and 1 of the 2 best defensive plays of the game in this one? He moved his feet and went straight-up to block Turner's shot when we were up by 1. Perhaps Brian's most outstanding game as a Vol. :bow2:

4. Scotty Hopson. Guys, if Hopson could start playing offensively, we can beat anyone. He is a mystery. But, let's not lose site of what he did defensively tonight. Diebler went 1 of 7 -- 1 of 7 -- from three point range. That is the defensive story of the game. Turner could not beat us by himself and Hopson and Tatum absolutely closed-down Diebler. So Scotty did contribute in a big way.

5. We didn't even play our best. I thought Maze and Goins had subpar games overall. And Hopson was MIA on offense. But Chism, Prince, Williams, and Tatum all stepped up big-time to bring this one home. :pepper:

6. Shout out to Pearl and the fans. Pearl and his staff did a fabulous job with their game plan -- Diebler was freaking 1 of 7 from three point range and we abused the post on this team. We dissected OSU in our game-plan, even though we didn't always execute it beautifully on defense.

7. The refs. Yes, they were pretty much in OSU's back-pocket for most of the game (primarily the tall, dark-haired one), but I have to say -- and Seth Davis said this -- the no-call at the end on both of Turner's three point shots were the right calls and some refs would have reflexively called that. These guys didn't. So all is forgiven.:eek:lol:

GO VOLS!!!!

It's all about leadership and Wayne Chism and JP Prince refuse to let this team go home.

I am so happy that both of them will have their careers and their play in this game go down in UT history.

Wise, I love your posts. I really do. But it seems everytime I read them, you blame the refs no matter what.

BTW, me and my 10 year old are standing in front of the TV as Turner brings the ball up the court and after Turner's first three attempt from the corner, my Cable goes into freak mode. It's fading in and out and we totally miss what is happening until we see Woolridge at mid-court and my son says "Tennessee won". What are the odds?

Wayne and JP cemented their place in Tennessee basketball lore tonight. Great night to be a Vol.

We are Tennessee fans. If I were an Ohio State, Kentucky, Duke, or North Carolina fan (or a Vandy fan commenting on a game in Memorial) I wouldn't be talking about the officiating.

Officiating is part of the game -- I try to comment on all facets of the game. There is a reason Pearl got two warnings from the refs mid-way through the 2nd half. He wasn't complimenting them on the job they were doing.

I understand that. I respect that. And sometimes you are right, the refs need to be called out (check UK at their place when we played them). Yet today was a good job by officiating. Understand that Turner is going to get some calls. It's part of the game. You can argue fair or foul, but it's going to happen. The refs did well today in my opinion.

Great OP by the way

I agree that relatively speaking they did well compared to the screwing we have gotten in the past.

But, when OSU players dive on the floor with the ball and slide, that is a walk. When our guys are in position and get run over, that is a charge. Tonight, they were either no calls or blocks. When it went the other way, it was a charge on UT. When Turner steps in bounds from out of bounds and is the first to touch the ball, that is out on OSU, not a no-call. Some of these are basic. I know that charge/block is judgment, but I'd like to see consistency. And the other calls are so simple, missing them is inexcusable.

But, you are right. It was a heckuva lot better than the robbery that took place in Columbus and in the NCAA tourney when we played OSU in 2006/2007.
