1. Our Seniors (and Brian Williams) put this team on their backs and have carried them into the record books. If you didn't already love Wayne Chism, how can you not now? I love the kid. :worship:
2. JP Prince was amazing -- and our coaches took their chances having Goins and Maze guard Turner, avoiding the JP foul disaster we would have had if he had fouled out. And he made play after play on Turner, including the biggest defensive play in the history of UT basketball. :clapping:
3. Brian Williams. 12 boards and 4 of 5 from the field. Wow. Who would have thought that Williams makes the offensive play of the game and 1 of the 2 best defensive plays of the game in this one? He moved his feet and went straight-up to block Turner's shot when we were up by 1. Perhaps Brian's most outstanding game as a Vol. :bow2:
4. Scotty Hopson. Guys, if Hopson could start playing offensively, we can beat anyone. He is a mystery. But, let's not lose site of what he did defensively tonight. Diebler went 1 of 7 -- 1 of 7 -- from three point range. That is the defensive story of the game. Turner could not beat us by himself and Hopson and Tatum absolutely closed-down Diebler. So Scotty did contribute in a big way.
5. We didn't even play our best. I thought Maze and Goins had subpar games overall. And Hopson was MIA on offense. But Chism, Prince, Williams, and Tatum all stepped up big-time to bring this one home. epper:
6. Shout out to Pearl and the fans. Pearl and his staff did a fabulous job with their game plan -- Diebler was freaking 1 of 7 from three point range and we abused the post on this team. We dissected OSU in our game-plan, even though we didn't always execute it beautifully on defense.
7. The refs. Yes, they were pretty much in OSU's back-pocket for most of the game (primarily the tall, dark-haired one), but I have to say -- and Seth Davis said this -- the no-call at the end on both of Turner's three point shots were the right calls and some refs would have reflexively called that. These guys didn't. So all is forgiven.lol:
