I think Tyndall cursed the program when he left. wvey single year the team has had at least one critical injury to a key player. Most late in the year as well. It’s crazy
Punter, Hubbs, Kyle, LaMonte, Kyle, Fulky, Olivier, and now Zakai…
Just terrible luck for the guys and fans.

Kyle Alexander, ON, Fulkerson, and now ZZ. All starters that had season ending injuries just before the NCAAT. Plus JJJ was slowed considerably with a chronic injury. Luck hasn’t been on TN’s side as far as injuries go as seasons end.

JJJ was biggest net loss, but you could also say the team learned to play w/o him and others have stepped up, but on flip side JJJ hasn't truly meshed back in yet other than some really good splash games. Problem w/ ZZ loss is that he's done the heavy lifting all season and it's a BIG adjustment for the team. Gonna have to play fantastic D, depend upon paint scoring and hit freethrows. If we do those three things every game, we'll win a few in post season. Also, Santi needs his 15ish minimum per game. It would be really great if JJJ just took this team on his back during the tourney like Grant Williams.

JJJ is average at best. He can not carry this team. Vescovi can do it, but the other teams game plan for him.

This thread is the answer to any question of how/why/when/where regarding this season. It’s honestly impressive that we have been top ten-ish all season and have some of the wins we do with the constant injuries. They will also, likely, be the reason we don’t go very deep in the tourney over the next week or so. Just brutal for a team that could have been great and poised to do big things in a down year of college hoops. Thems the breaks, I suppose.

by "carry", I don't really mean post 20 points every game...but I do think being on the threshold of double/double w/ 2-4 steals/game along w/ high level D gets us his needed outcome to not have to live or die w/ Santi.

I agree he is very unlikely to carry the team this post-season due to injuries which limited his practice time but he was far and away our MVP statistically for the final 16 games of the year last season. I hope you are right about SV because he struggled in too many games at the end of the year last season.

Somehow Donnie just doesn't sound like a D1 Coach.

UT has overcome a lot this year in basketball, but Zeigler’s loss likely ends the likelihood of even having a chance to win multiple games in a row I’m afraid. Winning two games in a row is the ceiling for what remains in my opinion. it is a guard game and we don’t have a PG. Still a good year regardless what happens the rest of the year. Great wins along the way against Kansas, Alabama and Texas. Just weren’t consistent enough shooting the ball from anywhere game to game. Would love to make the 2nd weekend in the tournament but……we have a ton of question marks.

It's amazing this team has done as well as it has. That said, the injury to Z might be the one we can't overcome. I hope I'm wrong.

I don't dislike him, I don't think he is as good as some do.
Coming out of last year it looked like he was finally emerging. Then starts the year injured. Tough luck, so I think you’re off in this analysis. He still has time to put a stamp on his career.
