Injuries

Graves hand injury says she is ok for next game. Reynolds hit in head that could mean she is out.

Graves and Carter should be able to play.

With Reynolds I assume UT will follow concussion protocol and hold her out of the game tomorrow. Reynolds did not even come back to the bench last night.

Does anyone know what exactly happened or when in the game it happened?

I think near the end - when she could have been taken out before it even happened since it was a 20 point lead - but you know who the HC is - KD can only get in for the last 40 seconds

Who was that that was crying on the bench near the end - I thought they said it was Carter (I had the CC on and not the sound)

I actually thought Reynolds came out of the game in that second quarter because she had just picked up her second foul, didn't know she was injured but when i saw that she didn't come out of the locker room and wasn't on the bench i knew something was wrong. might have to watch a replay because i don't know exactly when or how the injury happened.

It seemed to be on the play when she got the foul called on her.

That's when it happened. Jordan was hit in the face by Kelsey Mitchell on a drive into the lane, either by an arm or a shoulder. She held her mouth on the floor, then when she went to the sideline, gave fives to the bench players. When a timeout was called a little later, trainers had her at the end of the bench working with her. When play resumed, she was gone from the bench, presumably to the locker room.

Knowing our luck, Reynolds will be out for 6+ months. We either have the softest heads in women's basketball or absurdly cautious trainers, even as I realize one must be prudent when it comes to head injuries.

She held her mouth on the floor?? You mean I hope she held her mouth with her hand?

Reminds me of when Kesling said something to the effect of "Arian Foster comes off the field carrying his arm to the sideline". I was thinking, now that's one heck of an injury.

I've never seen anything like this with the concussions. I can't remember ever seeing a basketball related concussion - except for these last few years with the LVs. I'm sure it's happened, but I can't recall a single instance.

Hey Jeff,I should have said while on the floor, but I'm sure you got the gist of what I said. Would you have preferred wuteva?

LOL! No, you're good. For a split second when I read your post I honestly thought you meant she doubled over or something with her face down on the floor. But then I quickly realized that wasn't right. I just hope she's ok.

After reviewing the recording, Reynolds looks as if she is hit in the head by Mitchell's left elbow when Mitchell drives to the basket. Reynolds flinches slightly and briefly puts her hand to her mouth as stated by Ben in his post. Mitchell goes to the line and Reynolds is subbed out. It's at the 6:21 mark of the second quarter. I have no idea if this is when the injury was sustained.

They didn't used to diagnose them and/or hold them out, not to the current extent, at any rate. It's good that they do, but it certainly shows the amount of blows to the head that players take.

Jordan's head hit the court?

no - just saying thats how they can happen in basketball - you said you never heard of it happening in the sport - I have seen it happen quite often and before all this protocal stuff began
