How are the Vols looking injury wise going into the big game this weekend? I was sitting at the Houndstooth saturday trying to watch the Ut/Um game, but they had it on the tv behind me, so i didnt get to see much. What is the extent of Clausens injury? How is the O-line holding up? This is a huge game for the Vols, and i was just wondering how it was looking.

He's tough. He says he's going to play. Our Oline is banged up and we lost a good reserve tailback, Hardesty to a torn ACL but we're really in pretty good shape if Clausen plays.

Tough break with Prothro. That could impact your offense in a big way. He was the only receiver you had who drew more than man coverage in some instances. I hate to see a player go down like that.

What year is he?

during an interview with clausen right after the ole miss game he said he is a little banged up but will be ready to go this weekend and pretty much said nothing would keep him off that field. the o-line is hurting some, they've had to rotate people in and out of the line up a lot, mostly at center i would say. and while the o-line being banged up obviously hurts a team but i think we will be alright because we've been banged up on the o-line for a couple of years now and our back-ups and younger players get a lot of reps in some big games on what i would call a regular basis.

Prothro is a Junior, but i am afraid that his injury his going to be career ending. I hope he gets to suit up next year, but who knows. I guess UGA will be gunning for Rick this weekend huh? Hopefully he will be in good shape and you guys can get that offense going. Good Luck.

For all the injuries UT has had over the past few years, I believe Bama has suffered more.

There was a good article on it here. Apparently it is an old injury from last year that flared up again.

Ailing Clausen expects to face UGA

Tennessee's Rick Clausen was 18-of-35 passing in a win over Ole Miss on Saturday.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Tennessee quarterback Rick Clausen wore a walking boot Monday to protect his left Achilles' tendon, but expects to play against Georgia.

Clausen was elevated to starter after leading the No. 8 Volunteers in a second-half comeback at LSU a week ago. He played the entire way in Tennessee's 27-10 win over Mississippi last Saturday.

Clausen said Achilles' tendinitis developed last year, and it flared against LSU. Coach Phillip Fulmer said Clausen was going to be fine.

Tennessee (3-1, 2-1 Southeastern Conference) hosts fifth-ranked Georgia (4-0, 2-0) on Saturday in a key East division game.

"I'm going to get a lot of treatment this week, as many times as possible, to get the soreness out," Clausen said.

Clausen dislocated two fingers on his right (nonthrowing) hand this season.
