As of yesterday, Butch stated (#VOLREPORT: NO MATTER WHAT YOU WEAR - VolNation) that Marlin Lane "did not practice today. . . it is going to be day-to-day [with him]. He spent all day in the training room. He was out at practice taking the mental repetitions that he will need. He was on the bike. So it will be how he progresses throughout the course of the night and into tomorrow.”

With respect to Riyadh Jones and Michael F. Williams, Coach Jones observed that "They are progressing. I will know a little bit more at the end of the week. I liked a lot of the things that Riyahd did today. It is just the volume of repetitions that they are going to need to be game ready

Apparently no comments were made regarding Curt Maggitt, which lends further credence to the possibility that he may be destined for a redshirt to allow him to fully recover from his previous injuries.

I just hope Marlin is ready to go

Surprisingly, if I had to choose between Marlin and Riyahd being ready I would choose Riyahd. We will need defensive help bad this week. Neal will be fine against their D.

Our best north south runner vs a community college corner who has not taken a snap... Surpisingly is an understatement. I do agree our d needs as much help/depth as we can get though..

Jones wouldn't play much at all even if he was healthy. Lane is far far more important

Carolina likely first chance for Jones and Williams. they were off for almost 6 weeks doing little to nothing

I wonder why we haven't seen more of Tom Smith?

Some of the early chatter was that he had not progressed during spring. Better comments were made this fall and he apparently passed Hill. When he's gotten the ball, he's done some good things.

I would say he's improved and then gotten some opportunities. Contrary to what some here think, significant improvement is possible over a long or even short span of time... goes for RB's, CB's, WR's,... heck, even QB's.

Lane was one of those guys who had he been healthy in high school he'd been a 5 star RB. We rolled the dice on him and his talent, and due to his health he just hasn't produced to his capability. Had we had depth in 2011, Lane could have benefited from a RS year. I feel the same with Maggit this year. We are going to have to bite the bullet or put players out there in the SEC when they are 60-70%.

Maggitt has redshirted.

If true then I'm glad we can stop speculating on his return. Sapp has been great. Maggitt coming back at full health next year will make our LB core vicious.

Anyone know how much longer til Devrin returns? We need him!

we need maggitt back something horrible. absolute playmaker.
I doubt it's bothering him that much, if any....they just want to err on the safe side. And right now, we can't afford the safe side. Play him unless it gets too sore to do otherwise. We NEED him this month. Put the thinnest knee brace on him and put him out there...at least sharing the snaps with Brewer.

It's not gonna matter. Just hoping we can score a touchdown. 45-7 Georgia.
