Can anyone tell me exactly what happened to him (medically) that made his right arm no longer usable?

Nerve damage that caused paralysis IIRC

Nerve (proximal brachial plexus injury) and vascular damage that caused permanent paralysis. Proximal meaning (in this instance) closer to his neck.

You're not wrong, I was just adding to it. :good!:

similar to what happened to Bo Jackson's hip, iirc. When blood supply is cut off, tissue, muscles and nerves start to die.

Inky's injury was very serious and he was close to death afterwards and it really was a miracle that he didn't die. I don't recall all of the details but he writes of this in detail in his book.

Sorry guys I realize it's a but of a bad subject but I have always wondered why his injuries seemed to be centralized only on the 1 arm.

Because that's where he was hit, in his shoulder. It severed the nerves and arteries to his arm. Nearly bled out internally.

I was at that game when Inky got hurt. I will never forget what the stadium sounded like when he went down. I have never heard it that quiet with that many people in it.

good question, rough memory.

What a way to turn something awful around though. Inky is somebody that has really done something amazing and wonderful instead of wallering (sp?) in self-pity.

I've heard him speak once and he's a truely amazing guy. So glad we can call him a VFL and an out-spoken Christian. Hard to find these days in the media/public.

At the time I had no idea it would be as serious as it was. He is absolute class and a man's man with how he has handled it.

I have never heard of that happening to anyone, that's crazy. I would think that is an extremely rare occurrence.
