I fear these kids of today have a different mind set than they had 10 years ago. The things that tripped a trigger 10 years ago have little or no effect on these kids of today. Find and tripping that trigger of today is a whole lot of the success we are looking for. To me the saying "me generation" says it all. Team and team sacrifice are foreign ideas to most of these kids today.

Wow. If you're not touched by that show of dedication and Lady Vol spirit, then you'd better go get a check-up to see if your heart is still working properly. :)

It takes a LOT of desire (and courage) to be willing to do a job without receiving a living wage for it. This team of Lady Vols is fortunate to have her in their corner.

As a teacher I agree! That and they want INSTANT gratification and many don’t want to work and stay the course which truly builds character.

Welcome home Nicky.

Warlick introduced Anosike to the current team this month, and she used her same direct approach – direct, honest and blunt,

“I am not here to be a coach, because I am not a coach,” Anosike said, summarizing what she told the players. “You have four of them already. And I am not here to be your friend. I am way older than you, and I have been through way more than you. So, we’re not friends either, but look at me as an older sister. That is the capacity I want to serve in.

“Understand that there is a way as a Lady Vol you should be conducting yourself, there is a way you carry yourself, there is an air about you and a confidence about you. That’s how it should be. Look at me and see those things and emulate that, because I was a Lady Vol. I feel like I tried my best every day to embody all of those characteristics that I saw Lady Vols embody way before I got here. And I loved that things about Lady Vols – the class, the confidence, the hard work, the no nonsense, the toughness. THIS

The elite athlete will only reach their peak in skill and performance for a coach as long as siad coach remains unimpressed by her. You high five and compliment along the way,,but the moment she shows she thinks she is there, the coach has to be able to show her why she isn't.

Athletes know there is no such thing as instant gratification in sports.
Reps,
more reps,
muscle memory hones in and then,
gratification

Your analysis fits some vol nation fans as well.

Yes all of us instant gratification fans have only waited 6 years for the present staff to take us to a final four we shouldn't be in such a hurry we should wait 12 years like everybody else or maybe like some that have never been we should be maybe be like them and be really really really patient

And 10 years ago, people said kids "today" are different and ten years before that. Kids today is a constant refrain. I know lot of 20 year olds who definitely work hard and sacrifice. Kids today accomplish all kinds of stuff (who exactly are winning championships and graduating with honors etc). Before Candace parker showed up on Candace, the LVs had a long dry spell with no championships (led by players such as Kara Lawson). It is all too easy to explain "not winning" as a character flaw.

Whatever. You are an example of what I was talking about. You need self affirmation so you show up here presenting yourself as the answer. If you were truly capable, you would already be coaching in a meaningful capacity and not taking up camp on a team forum trying to self promote while spouting coaching rhetoric like you are an expert. Fact is that teams change, programs change, players change and this program has underwent a change post-Pat. They will get better and reward the fan base but not on your timetable. Or maybe I am just pretending not to be impressed so you will try harder.....NOT.

I am and will be fully behind the coach/coaches/me that gets MY team and MY players and MY organization back to its full prominence and obtained status in this game.

I will not lower my standard for anyone.
No One!

Whatever.

There are people that make things happen, want things to happen, and lastly, watch things happen. I have never been and never will be part of the latter two types of people. And never will be.

I make things happen and I'm high profile. I moved in Sevierville and March and started a new job at the same point. A company of about 3500 full and part-time employees. Two weeks ago this site organization was featured nationally on Fox News. And guess who is one of the three people from our segments who is on that televised spot.... By coincidence?

Absolutely not!... I make things happen and to make things happen you have to not be afraid to be and high visibility. And did I acquire my high visibility because I'm at the top of my new position. No! I hired on at the bottom of the ladder there are two leads and two managers above me but guess who's on the national spot. That's why I have confidence that Nikki can make something happen from her spot. You don't have to be a leader in a lead role, to lead!

Coach Jumper's unwavering belief that Lady Vol Basketball can be returned to former greatness and his positive thoughts on the matter are much needed despite his critics comments to the contrary.:)

They can indeed...And will.

In the last few seasons, I have not been optimistic... CHW kept putting Alpha players around herself and non-Aplha coaches coaching them. This has seemed to change. As far as the roster I see, there was only one potential Alpha athlete there (Annie) and she's gone.

I know coaching
and when the stars align, something magical happens.

It was happening last year (15-0 run) and it only stopped when their armor got a dent.
Someone tried to ignore the dent instead of telling the kids to get back in their and wear that dent as a reminder not to get another one!
I don't think that will happen this year.

However, Not-taking-a-time-out-to-interrupt momentum,,, will happen!
