Agreed. We owe so much to so few! Find those that try to intimidate and spread fear and send them to get their virgins or whatever it is they supposedly get...... time to 'take out the trash' so to speak!

Not a conspiracy theorist...

But two terror attacks stopped with in a week of a midterm election? And they just so happened to make a move now, even though these guys have been under suerveillance for several months?

I'm just throwing that out there for some of you guys to chew on...

These theories were SOP when W was around:

1) raise terrorist alert level near elections
2) already captured Bin Laden but waiting to announce until just before the 2004 election
3) manipulating gas prices (down before elections; up after to pay off his oil buddies)

I would argue that the fact that we heard about this in detail has everything to do with timing - the fact that the move was made, not necessarily. We don't hear about all the "wins."

i'm a little confused as to why you can mail things from yemen and not got through a bomb detector before they travel to the US. not that i'm racial profiling or anything. . .

Maybe Ed Markey was onto something in 2007...maybe if it was someone other than Ed Markey, Congress may have listened to him :).

I do agree that phasing in the screens based on origin makes some sense. One problem with this is that, unlike a person who has to have a passport (which can be faked, but is difficult to fake for many countries), the package can't be as easily traced to its origin. So, someone in Yemen mails the package to Germany (or a host of countries that don't check in-bound freight), where it is then mailed to the US in a separate package. To be effective, it's probably got to be all cargo sooner than later.
