Interesting article and Tim Tebow and the "Tebowing" fad.

1. Anyone who thinks that God actively cares about a sporting event deserves to be mocked and probably derided for blasphemy.

2. This author has a short memory. She has conveniently forgotten about the uproar that surrounded (and the suspension of) Mahmoud Abdul Rauf (Chris Jackson) for refusing, upon religious grounds, not to stand up for the national anthem.

Tim Tebow has done more to bring scorn and derision to the Christian faith in the public discourse than anyone since Jimmy Swaggart. Most non-fanatical religious types of a certain age, like myself, see his antics on a par with thanking Jesus for helping your team win.

Fred Phelps
Jeremiah Wright

Tebow may be slightly goofy, but to say he's damaged the public image of Christianity is a bit hyperbolic when the above mentioned "ministers" have done far more damage than even Swaggart.

Agree there has been more harm done by the aforementioned.

Tebow is more silly than dangerous. If I were a Christian, I would just be embarrassed by his shenanigans and theatrics.

What makes you say that? I don't buy it, sorry.

Derision: a state of being laughed at or ridiculed

Good. From posts of yours I have read, I'm thrilled you don't agree with me or "buy it", as you said. I'd question myself otherwise.

I promise I'll try harder to give a damn about what you think of me. All I did was ask you a simple question.

I lean more towards this. I shake my head at some of the stuff he does but I don't necessarily think he is hurting Christianity all that much.

I view Tebow's actions much like Dustin Colquitt's. Kind of like, "hey, look at me."
Did you ever notice when Dustin would shank one? He'd glare up to the sky as if to say, "where were you on that one."
Then again. I'm a Catholic, so I prefer to pray in private.

Cool. When you decide to stop being petty, why don't you enlighten us as to why you believe Tebow has brought scorn and derision on Christianity.

The fact you don't get it makes me think you're one of those who thinks God is only on the side of your football team, city, political party, or country.

Agree with that but anybody that hates Tebow for his beliefs or openly mocks him that way is an *******. He's a good kid, people should just let him be.

I think Tebowing is funny, personally. Kid goes out of his way to be demonstrative...he's going to be mocked...even by fellow christians.
