This article nails it perfectly IMHO.

For us Germans, the Americans are either too fat or too obsessed with exercise, too prudish or too pornographic, too religious or too nihilistic. In terms of history and foreign policy, the Americans have either been too isolationist or too imperialistic. They simply go ahead and invade foreign countries (something we Germans, of course, would never do) and then abandon them, the way they did in Vietnam and will soon do in Iraq.

Anti-Americanism is hypocrisy at its finest. You can spend your evening catching the latest episode of "24" and then complain about Guantanamo the next morning. You can claim that the Americans have themselves to blame for terrorism, while at the same time calling for tougher restrictions on Muslim immigration to Germany. You can call the American president a mass murderer and book a flight to New York the next day. You can lament the average American's supposed lack of culture and savvy and meanwhile send off for the documents for the Green Card lottery.

"It's all about what you believe, not what you know."

Completely sums up my opinion of the radical left's ideology. They don't care about truth or justice.

I don't think any radical cares about truth or justice, left or right. Anne Coulter and Al Franken really the same.

except for the fact that Anne Coulter is actually funny.

She's not funny. If there isn't at least a slight bit of truth in a supposed comedic comment, it's cannot be funny. The right probably thought the Edwards is "gay" comment was funny because they don't like him, but he is clearly hetro, so there really isn't any irony to make that comment funny. What is funny is calling someone gay at a convention, yet taking pictures with and honoring an openly (at least when he isn't around republicans) gay man at that same convention. That's what I think is funny. I find things like Al Gore pushing environmental ideals, yet apparently living in a home that using alot of energy funny. It's a contradiction. Coulter is just rude and pointless with her comments, perfect comedy for a 3rd grader, yes.

I think you missed the intended point of the joke - it wasn't to imply Edwards was gay - it was to make fun of the extent of PC foolishness that resulted in that dude from Grey's Anatomy entering rehab for refering to someone as a ******. Since there is some truth in that story, it meets the criteria for comedy that you mentioned. That said, I didn't think it was clever enough to be funny.

Did I misunderstand that?
