Let’s be honest, the writer thinks because Milton is black, that automatically means that he’s a mobile quarterback.

Or maybe not.

Maybe he's telling the reader not to think of Joe as just a large, strong-armed pocket passer who can't move around when he needs to. He's definitely got some impressive athletic ability beyond just a strong arm. I disagree that Joe has shown he can be a real "dual threat" at QB. But he's not a slug back there, either. Maybe that's all the writer was trying to convey.

Has the writer ever seen Milton play? Milton has a lot of things going for him, but "impressive mobility" ain't one of them.

Have you watched Milton?
Not only does he have a cannon he’s one of the best athletes on the team. He can stand there and do a backflip without putting his hands down. It takes someone very explosive to do that at 6’5” 245lbs .

No doubt he is a great athlete. However, he has often shown reluctance to take off and when he does, he is not as elusive as Hooker.
Now this is based on a very limited sample size. He did have a long run against Pitt two years ago. So I am hoping he uses his freakish athletic ability to create some good runs. He has improved most aspects of his game so I would not be surprised to see a jump in this one either.

If I may submit for the Record...

That's called straight away speed, which he definitely has - not the same as mobility. But I think Joe is probably more mobile than he has shown so far. I think it will take him a lot of reps in real games to become more comfortable and therefore more elusive and not take so many sacks back there.

I'm guessing that the coaching staff is gonna make sure we see more of the kind of planned run you posted here for Joe. Another weapon to make defenses load the box in fear of the run from either Joe or the RB.

I agree. I would love to see the staff steal some stuff from Auburn 2010 with some of the designed runs they had w/ Cam. Milton has to get in that mindset that he’s 6’5” 250. I don’t think he’s really played that way in the past.

Do any of you "Armchair Coaches" NOT realize that Joe didn't have any significant amount of "designed runs" last year...'cause he was the backup...and IF he were to get hurt/get his "bell-rung" on a play...that replacements behind him would have been rather slim??!!

At least this year...there is a 5* Freshman who needs game experience...

Article in a nutshell: Halzle's success depends on the passing game, the running game, and the offensive line. Brilliant!
I get the feeling the author was writing this for an audience who has watched hardly any football. He might as well have said that UT's season depends on if they can score more points than their opponents.

I'm at a loss for where to start in responding to your post; there's so much dumb in it that it's difficult to know where to begin. You do understand the difference between potential and performance, don't you? As in, it doesn't matter if he can vertically jump ten feet and run a 4.1 if he doesn't do it in the games. If you can point to a game where he displayed impressive mobility, then your post makes sense; otherwise it's pretty silly.

Are you basing your assessment on two years ago or last year? If you watched the games he played in he ran much more like Cam Newton than Wayn Newton. You act as if he runs life a certain Manning that used to play here.

Milton has the size and speed but isn't a great runner. If he can learn to trust his speed and size he will be a good enough runner. He doesn't need to make people miss, just stay in front of the chains so the play calling can help him

I don’t know what games you saw but I saw a bunch of times where rather than running at all he balled up like a porcupine and took the sack.

Such a crazy stereotype. I guess people think because I'm from Kentucky, that I'm attracted to my cousins! I am, but that doesn't mean it's not a stereotype!!👀🤣
