I talked to a coach that was on our staff last year today.

Ive talked to him before. The first time we talked, he was surprised I knew who he was. This was the first time we talked about Tennessee though.

I asked him about Dooley and what he thought of him as a coach. He said that it was tough to coach under him and it doesnt surprise him that he is out. He said the overall situation when Dooley went in with was tough but he did leave it better than when they got there.

I also asked him about all the Gruden stuff (this was before the reports this morning about Gruden turning the deal down.) and he said that Gruden wasnt going to Tennessee and everybody knows it except the fans.

Then we started talking about Louisville (doesnt mean anything)

Just thought Id share that. I thought his comments on Dooley were interesting.

Seems like a reasonable guy, not like most on VN

From the people I've talked to who know how Dooley was behind the scenes, he was a total d***. If the coaches did not have the same color of pens and paper at meetings, Dooley would pitch a fit. He once wanted the cleaning lady fired cause she moved his trash can. I am so glad we are moving on.

I really questioned what type of person he was when he chose to sit out the Kentucky game(arguably the last two Kentucky games). What kind of coach doesn't want to be around his guys for the last game?
And I'm not sure about firing the cleaning lady but my younger cousin talks to a few of the players in their classes and they said Dooley was a bit eccentric.

Prove it or it is not true.

That fact that you won't give said coaches name is a little alarming. I'm sure I'll get the typical "I'm protecting my sources" type excuse.

There are several solid people who have been on the support staff for a long time that either hated the guy or thought he was OCD. Dooley would go on 30 minute rants about when they watered the grass on the practice field, and other ridiculous obsessions like mentioned above.
I think it only shows how freakin great UT could really be. Good players still signed up to play here. Coaches still want to be here. Honestly UT would have been so much better if they'd pulled the trigger last year. Obviously we didn't know how bad the financial picture was, and hart was new.
It will not take a gruden to right this ship. Dooley was just that bad.

I don't want to lose my job.

I mean you could narrow it down if you thought about it.

I was talking to some true "insiders" and they told me Dooley would run the hallway past pat summits old office and yell...I WANT MY DADDY....this action made a lot of people mad except good will hunting who was solving math problems in the basement of the arena for no reason at all. Other sources (That I cannot not name dxue to the fact they dont exsist) told me that Fulmer was in meetings with some guy about a tv spot...so maybe he is coming to coach the team...further reporting also said that Dooley may become our AD next season if hart cant make a good hire...go figure, haty fires the coach that becomes his boss, what a twist

So WHY was Dooley tough to work for? The original post doesn't address that obvious question.

Wow! If that's true about the cleaning lady, Dooley was/is a total d bag. If I did my job as poorly as he did his, I sure wouldn't complain about the way someone else did theirs!

If it was Wilcox or Sirmon, it's a pity you didn't mention that their departure torpedoed the entire season. Had they stayed the defense would have at least had enough experience and continuity to field a decent unit.

We would likely then, have been sitting at 11-1 or 10-2.

My office had the cleaning crew deported when we ran out of paper towels on a Monday morning. I mean after a week end to fill them, they deserved it big time...
