Siap. Below are some interesting stats and info on Missouri that was posted on VQ:
"Mizzou -- stats can be misleading
Hearing a lot about Mizzou's defense.
Rush defense? They have faced 4 teams in the top 50 in rushing offense. Only one of those, Toledo, is ranked in the top 30 (at 18). But Toledo's ranking is built upon three 300+ rushing yard games against three cupcakes they faced. Toledo had 125 yards rushing against Mizzou a week after Florida held them to 50.
The other three teams in the top 50 that the Mizzou defense has faced are Arkansas State at 45, Georgia at 41 (one can bet that ranking has been tanking since the UT game when the Vols put Marshall on the IR with Gurley), and South Carolina at 31 (whose offense was a shell of itself until Shaw came in during the 4th quarter and torched Mizzou).
The Vols' rushing offense is the 3rd best statistically that Mizzou will have faced behind Toledo and South Carolina. And that is with the Vols having already played 4 rush defenses ranked in the top 30 in the country.
Pass defense? The Vols have faced 4 pass defenses rated in the top 25 (three in the top 15). Based on current stats, Mizzou will be the worst FBS pass defense the Vols will face this season. They are at 112 right now, so there are only 11 FBS teams with a worse pass defense rating than Mizzou.
And, btw, Coaches go into games with a game plan that effects the stats. Another reason Mizzou might have a higher rated run defense is why would anyone run on them when their pass defense is one of the worst in the entire nation?
Their pathetic pass defense may also explain why they have so many sacks. Only one team in all of FBS has had more passes attempted by opponents against their defense than Missouri --that is Stanford. And what da ya know? While Missouri is tied for 12th in the nation in sacks, Stanford is 5th. What distinguishes Stanford and Missouri from other teams that are highly ranked in sacks in the nation, like Miami, Va. Tech, Clemson, Baylor, USC, and Cincinatti? Opponents have attempted an aggregate of 100 more passes against Mizzou and Stanford than against these other teams.
Finally, 18 of Mizzou's 25 sacks came against Florida, Vandy, and Arkansas State. Over half the sacks came against Vandy and FL. Like Mizzou, A&M also got 7 sacks against Vandy. Vandy is ranked 114 out of 123 FBS teams in sacks allowed. They are dead last in the SEC, but Florida isn't far behind -- tied with KY for 3rd worst in the SEC. Florida is tied for 83rd in the nation in that category and Arkansas State is tied for 96th. Oh, and Mr. Sam, the all everything sack master for Mizzou? Dude has 9 sacks on the season according to the Mizzou official site. And he has had the best performance for a single game in sacks this season for any Mizzou player at 3. And he did that 3 times, which means he got all 9 of his sacks in 3 games. In what three games did he do it? Wait for it......you guessed it, Vandy, FL, and Arkansas State.
Other than Toledo, the Vols offensive line will be the best Mizzou has faced at protecting the QB. Georgia is the only other team in the top 50 that Mizzou has faced in that category. The Vols' are #1 in the SEC in the least sack yardage given up and 4th behind Arkansas, Bama, and Auburn in least total sacks given up. Of those teams, only Alabama has attempted close to the same number of passes as UT (both teams at 234). Auburn and Arkansas have attempted 40 fewer passes than the Vols. Arkansas has given up 6 sacks, Alabama and Auburn 7, and the Vols 8. So, the closest offensive line to the Vols that Mizzou could face in regard to fewest sacks per attempt would be Alabama.
Just a bit of facts behind the statistical headlines that you read."
P.S. I'm not the person who researched and posted the above. I'm just sharing some info. :hi:
