This is NOT. A. COMPLAINT. Just a simple discussion between myself and the gentleman who has the seat(s) next to me.

JH has beat an opponent he wasn’t “supposed“ to each of his fisrt 2 years. Kentucky (🤮they were ranked, and it was on the road) would be the one in year one. Bama, FL and LSU last year (pick one, no one thought we’d win all 3).

IF we lose to GA (Not saying we have a great chance, but they aren’t as “scary“ as the last few years), who has the surprise been this year? If we beat Mizzou next week, does that count?

It was just an interesting conversation we had today during the UConn game.

Given the product we saw on offense prior to the last 2 weeks, Mizzou would absolutely count. I’m counting it if we handle business 😃

After last year we have an expectation to have a chance to win. Makes big wins a little less dopamine filled like say 2013 USCjr felt to everyone after the Doolander years. Hell we were just pumped we nearly beat UGA that year.

We have regained an expectation and when we win its great but how it is supposed to be. When we lose it hurts 10x worse.

I will not and simply refuse to consider beating the Missouri Tigers in football as any sort of accomplishment.

Don't really care about a "surprise" win. This team has a large number of holes which have become even more apparent after the cumulative injuries started kicking in The staff has done an excellent job of masking those and simply playing to what we were given.

We are probably looking at 8-4 this year. We can beat Mizzo and UGA but they have been solid all year and we have been up and down So I would give them the edge. I can be satisfied with 8-4 after the last 20 years of trash football. We can’t seem to get the qb, ol and defense to all get hot at the same time. I Honestly don’t know what to expect next year. If we don’t get some transfers in we may be in for a tough year. The OL is almost all seniors and when they have been banged up, you can see i huge drop off when the back ups are used. Nico will be in his first season and the schedule is ridiculous.

Winning 10 games this year was my above average expectation this year. I think we are right where we wanted to be record wise realistically thru 9 games.

I really see no reason why we don’t finish 9-3 at worst this regular season.

At no time should Missouri ever be considered a signature win. JMO

Getting a 10-2 regular season with only 1 win vs the Big 3 is alright by me given the amount of talent we lost from last year’s squad. Florida was mind boggling but the Bama game was the one that kills me more.

If you're counting Kentucky Year 1, Missouri counts this year.

I think if Mizzou beat Georgia, beating them have more excitement as they would be ranked in the Top 10 and at home.

Beating a Top 10 team on the road would indeed be considered a signature win for a season.

Now they are just a dejected 7-2 team that will likely be a game of two Top 15 teams. Not so much appeal as what could have been had they not choked in Athens

Bigger concern for me is that at least 2 years in a row, there has been an internal “incident” that caused the team to come out and lay an egg.
Last year, It was Banks and the South Carolina game. This year it was multiple players, apparently, and Florida.
I don’t remember anything the first year, so it could just be 2 years in a row of bad luck, but something needs to be done to keep focus during the season.

Missouri has won the East twice since coming to the SEC while our butts sat home. I don’t know why you would discount them. Our record is 6 and 4 against them

Most of their wins vs us have come in our worst years. When Tennessee isn’t even remotely “down”, Mizzou is not some tough opponent for us.

Not as many opportunities for surprise wins when the win total was set at 9.5. Being where we are supposed to be in year 3 is a surprise to me after the last 3 coaches .

Georgia is looking more realistic. Joe is playing good football. We have a chance but we need the OL fully healthy. It’d be a long day for Crawford or Davis.

I am in denial that Missouri is even in the SEC, let alone someone that we should countenance ever losing to. They are akin to Kentucky, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt in my book…a garbage program no matter their ranking. I refuse to count them as someone we weren’t supposed to beat.

For me it has to be Georgia this year…and even then I won’t be upset at 9-3, as it’s about where I had thought we’d be with the losses we sustained.

It still blows my mind that players were saying they felt they had the game won at halftime in Alabama. It speaks to how dominant we were in the first half, but also how this program is not yet at the level mentally to compete for championships. CJH and staff are still learning about the rigors of competing in the SEC on a consistent, week-to-week basis, and it's something that is coming and will only improve as the depth of talent does the same.
