Interesting quote from Coach Martin after

I found an interesting quote from coach Martin from looking back at when UT played them early in the season.

"This is one of those games we had to grind it out and really be physical," Bears coach Cuonzo Martin said. "I tell them I can care less if your shots don't fall, for us it's battling tough defensively. As long as we defend, I'm fine with it"

As they say, defense wins championships. I hope he can install this mindset into our players. I also find it interesting how things change. Coach Martin was in TBA and yet, at the time, no one in their right minds would have guessed that in a few months, he would be our next coach. It's crazy how things turn out sometimes.

I like the hire, we are in need of change and I think he will be a good coach for us. He doesn't have to worry about our shots not falling because they don't...Defense will help.

They certainly didn't fall this year, that's for sure.

im pretty sure that winning will need to occur at some point lol. good defense only goes so far if you're not winning games.

From what I've read/heard, he's very focused on discipline. Something this program needs a huge dose of.

My only knock on Pearl besides the obvious was player development. I look at Scotty and other players that took years to progress. We need offense also because I have never witnessed a more stagnant, although talented, halfcourt team.
