Some that pop up for me are:

3rd round -

Pitt v Xavier: Xavier coach faces off against school he was star point guard for.

Mizzou v Memphis: Mizzou coach is last CUSA coach to be Calipari and Tigers - can he do it from the Big 12?

Elite 8 -

Pitt v UCLA: Former Pitt coach versus current Pitt coach.

Final Four -

Louisville v Memphis: Old CUSA battle between two coaches with a long history.

E8: UCONN v. Memphis - Calhoun hates Cal from the MCA

Cal vs. Jim Calhoun

How it started: The longstanding series between UConn and UMass ended after Calipari's first season, supposedly because Calhoun did not approve of his sideline behavior. As Calipari tried to re-build UMass, he agitated Calhoun with his very public pleas to renew the rivalry. Meanwhile, Calipari began to win some key recruiting battles, pulling future star Marcus Camby out of Calhoun's backyard in Hartford. Behind the scenes, UConn coaches would frequently take shots at UMass' academic standards.

The stakes went up when: Calipari sought advice from and eventually befriended UConn women's coach Geno Auriemma. Calhoun and Auriemma have had a long-standing power struggle, and Calhoun did not appreciate his UConn colleague helping the enemy.

Recent developments: Once Calipari left New England, their icy relationship didn't matter as much. However, beating UConn in the Coaches vs. Cancer championship game last November was highly satisfying for Calipari.

Quote: "We're just not on terms. I really don't have anything negative with John. There's been a few things where John's tried to use the media. He may be good at it, but he's not good at it when he's talking about me. My way of business is face-to-face."
