Gov. Timothy M. Kaine said today he has granted conditional pardons to three members of the “Norfolk Four,” a group of sailors convicted of killing and raping young Navy wife Michelle Moore-Bosko in 1997 in Ocean View.

I have a hard time with the gov pardoning these guys after so many years and no new evidence. There is an interesting twist though (from the parents):

In today's statement, the Moores said: "We do not believe it is a coincidence that Governor Kaine granted these pardons just a few weeks after the announcement that John Grisham intends to write a screenplay about this case. Stories about rapists and murderers who confess, then spend the rest of their lives in prison, do not make interesting movies."

what I've read is that they confessed, were convicted and then claimed they were coerced. The odd thing is these requests have been sitting there since 2005 and Kaine decided now was the best time to pardon them (with no new evidence). Just seems a bit off to me

How does one get coerced in this country to confessing to rape and murder, if you didn't do it?

I don't think I could ever be coerced into falsely confessing such a terrible thing. Why would you ruin your life if you did nothing wrong?

i wondered this myself though there are many examples of people confessing to things they didn't do. my guess is most of these people have iq levels in the retard level. i'd much rather get the crap beaten out of me by a cop than confess to something i didn't do.
