Guessing he has had people doing this for a few weeks. Basically he said he always has a list and people he trusts that he will use. I like this better than a search firm. Search firms haven't gotten us anything except bad hires. (Kiffen and Dooley)

Here is my prediction. Gruden does MNF in an orange visor, orange blazer, orange pants, and white shoes. You look down and he has a smokey belt buckle. After every big hit he screams, "GBO" and after every TD he yells, "GIVE HIM 6!" After the game, he tells the MNF crew to take this job and shove it and his plane circles Knoxville for a total of 6 hours before he lands in grand fashion where he is greeted by all UT players, band and Dave Hart where he is presented an officially licensed UT Chucky Doll.

Did anyone see the story on 60 Minutes tonight about college football? It was about how much money it brought into the school and how much it meant not only for the athletic part of the school, but also the academic part. I couldn't help but think about Hart and the pressure he is under to make the right choice. I hope he does, and I hope Cheek will stay out of his way, and let him do it.

He said he and every other AD he knows has a list each year. Just in case. My guess here reading between lines is he knows who he is going after and will work from that list. He also said much be head coach, so that would seem to kick Smart out. Beside that no one knows!!!:loco:

Search firms are used to give both the school and the coaches plausible deniability. Neither side can say that they turned down or talked to the other side in this way.

All it tells me is that Mr. Hart has the intestinal fortitude to take accountability for his actions. Search committee or not the hire is still on the Athletic Director and that is his job. I actually respect him for this decision.

Hamilton spent 100K on a search firm last time and ended up with Kiffin. I think it is a waste of money, but since Hamilton had no athletic experience then he needed help.
