Trevor Thompson, a 6'11 220 freshman from V. Tech is transferring. He is from Indianapolis (Martin's old recruiting ground) and had a U.T. offer. He averaged 5 and 5 and a block in 16 minutes a game. He wouldn't help next year, but could be a big addition for U.T. the following year. He would still have 3 to play 3 after sitting out. Purdue is thought to be the favorite, but U.T. would have a shot if they are interested.

Do you know why he is transferring? Looks like he got some minutes there. Could use a good big.

No more projects. IMO we'll only go after players that can play immediately next season.

If you were to project those numbers over say, 30 minutes, the kid would be averring 10, 10, and 2. Big men usually take the longest to develop. This kid is far from a project.

5 and 5 with a block in 16 minutes isn't too shabby as a freshman

I didnt ssy he wasnt worth taking.....never seen him play....stats do look decent depending on how he looks in game film.....I was just saying u dont automatically take him bc he is 6'11.

Why would he not want to play for Buzz? :ermm:

Thompson is a high major prospect, teams like Kansas, Ohio State and Indiana have all already reached out.

He's transferring from Va Tech because he and Buzz have a little history. Marquette recruited him coming out of HS, an assistant was the main guy recruiting him. Buzz came and saw him, or watched tape and told him he was soft and was done recruiting him. Fast forward, Thompson is at Va Tech and Williams gets hired. In the first team meeting with Buzz Thompson's phone goes off. Buzz stops the meeting and tells him right there, "if you want a release I'll grant you a release". So Thompson asked for his release and it was granted...the end.

If Buzz thought he was soft what would CCM say? I think we know the answer to that...

On the other hand, historically speaking, nothing focuses and changes an athlete like the opportunity to prove the previous coach/school wrong.

If there's anything a young athlete can change about himself, it's attitude. And isn't that all "softness" is?
