IOWA CITY — Two members of the Iowa football team indicated they underwent exceptionally strenuous workouts, days before they and 10 teammates were hospitalized.
Officials at the university indicated Tuesday that all of the players are out of immediate medical danger, but confirmed the need for treatment was "likely related" to offseason drills.

I saw this. It's got "bad batch of 'roids" written all over it.

This is very suspicious. I'm going to agree that something else was involved. This could have huge ramifications because there is no way it's just a coincidence that 12 players suffered the same kidney problem after a workout.

They are likely taking some supplements (i.e. creatine) which requires lots of water intake. Combined with very strenuous exercises in the first couple weeks back lifting can cause these problems.

We already knew this. The question is what causes 12 guys to simultaneously get something like this that you rarely ever heard.

And I'm sorry but I'm just not buying the "ridiculously strenuous workout" argument. Guys at every school are being put through ridiculously strenuous workouts. Something else was going on here. I'm sticking with my bad batch of 'roids theory.

I couldn't find anything in any articles stating that they suffered any kind of illness, that the only indicator was brown colored urine.

If it is steriods, it wouldn't have to be a bad batch. A high dose of finaplex could cause some blood in the urine.

You might be on to something. Just a theory though.

I don't know much about steroids or supplements. But I would bet everything I own that this didn't happen merely as a result of an overstrenuous workout. Something else is involved. And that something else is more than likely a substance.

Maybe they all suddenly realized they choose to spend the funniest years of their lives in Iowa. The sudden realization was just too much for them to take.

Internet posters sure do love a good conspiracy theory.

If Iowa is using steroids, they better have just started. Ferentz would have to be an awful coach to obtain the results he has so far with his players doping.

Breaking news: Every college program has players who are juicing. I'd be surprised if there weren't at least a dozen guys playing for UT on some level who are on a cycle.

Trent Richardson seems like me might be, or at least might have.
