Yeah, you can put any song that have on there. When you get the ipod, you should get a disk that installs itunes if you don't have it already. Once you have itunes, it's as simple as putting the songs you want on itunes and then plugging your ipod up to the computer. The ipod updates according to what you have in itunes and copies/deletes.

What OWB said. I had about 2 gigs of songs before I bought my ipod shuffle. I simply installed the itunes and the added my playlist library. Bingo...transferable. And then you have the option to buy songs from itunes and add it to your library.

Why are you getting a nano?

I use my shuffle when I run. Mine can hold 120 songs, I have the 512mb one. I don't even load mine to capacity. Unless you have the need to hold 2,000 songs, I suggest a shuffle, they have a 1 gig one.

The ones that hold thousands of songs are pointless. Unless you are military and will deploy with it. :twocents:

I've got to get one for my child, who wants the Nano. I've never used Macs so I didn't know whether itunes was something exclusively for Macs.

Now, one other stupid question: where do you get the itunes disc?

Like I said before, look at what it is used for. If you honestly find a reason to tote around 1,000 songs, get an actual ipod. If you use it for random things, get a 512mb or 1gig shuffle. (price is better for a shuffle). Shuffle is made by ipod too, so basically it is the same thing.

Itunes is available for download on apple.com or whatever ipod product you buy comes with a disc.

Unless you have a cd collection that numbers around 1,000 and a large portion of them still go through your playlist...

I would personally like to have an iPod Video. But I've got a gen4 20GB and it works well. I put on 128kb/s MP3's and have like 15GB filled up.
