I'm becoming a bigger Ron Paul fan after reading this.

Fold up the tents, bring 'em home boys. "Good luck with all that" to the rest of the world.

The GOP money-men would NEVER stand for that. Halliburton got bills to pay, too.

I think that is the naive, easy way out. While we are still in an unipolar world, it is within our national interest to form a world order to our liking, and with that countries that copy American values. More so, it would prevent emerging challengers.

I dont know why I am thinking this, but I wouldnt be 100% against paying this. The main reason would be our relationship with that new government and the potential for more hate and discontent with the US. If the people and government there, no matter if correct or not, believe that we destroyed their home and then just up and left without financial assistance, it would damage an already bad image we have with that part of the world.

Halliburton? Sheesh. You realize KBR split from them in 2007 right?

While we are throwing out talking points, the GOP hates poor people.

1 billion is really a small amount in the entire scheme of things, but the morons asking for it should be thankful we cleared out Iraq in the first place. Otherwise, they would be in a morgue somewhere.

Did not realize HB got out of the war biz. My mistake and a bad one since it seems to have distracted from my main point.

I am somewhat surprised to hear this from you, but I completely agree. While I don't really like being the work police and wish we could just say screw you to the rest of the world, its in our best interest to be involved in these situations to help bring about a solution in our favor. That being said, there is room for us to cut back and still stay the major power player in world affairs.

Yes, let's send another 1 billion dollars we don't have to fix a "beautiful" city where we fought against terrorists that were harbored by some of its citizens. Brilliant.

Why? I have more in common with you than you may think.

Wolfowitz was light-years ahead in 92' with the Defense Planning Guidance.

They need to pay 1 billion to us for every military personel that died over there.
