I'll be in the Billy's hospitality area - let me know if you want to try to catch up. Probably only going to make the Sunday race but will try to get out for the Rolex series on Sat.

The RV camping hill is a great spot.

I didn't care for all the trees on the backstretch. The further down I moved though the better it was.

The trees did provide shade though which makes a lot of sense.

Massive thumbs up to the staff. We got in and out with no trouble at all. The buses to and from the track were great. I would love to see other places utilize this. Great facilitys at barber.

My main issue is NO DAMN TURKEY LEGS!?!?!? Wtf.

I went last year and had a blast. Nice track and super clean place to see a race. Didn't go this year because I couldn't afford it. Going on a cruise instead, but I will go back.

I knew it was going to be a good day when I walked up to my tent yesterday morning and Rick Mears was standing there watching the morning warmup.

So sad to see taku go out.

I love turn 13. Lot of passing on the outside, and saw a lot of cars get very twitchy at the top of the hill.

As a spectator I liked road Atlanta a bit more because I am able to see pretty much one sector of the track.

At barber I could see little bits of all the track.

This sounds a bit wonky because you want to see as much of the track as possible, but I suppose since I wasn't familiar with the track layout at barber it was confusing.

Next year I want to spend some time walking around the facility and checking it out. Doozer any reccomended viewing spots?

Turns 1-4 on the hill. There isn't a better spot.

I like this spot but you don't get Turn 5 and the Museum Turn - chicane.

I was in the Billy's tent (middle of the back straight) - it is close to the optimal viewing with the only real blind spots being Turn 1, 3, 4 - part of the 12, 13 complex and most of the last turn complex. The problem is you have to get high (crest of the hill and in the trees) to see but you can see more from there than anywhere else.

Turns 1 - 4 on the hill is my general go to place since it is less crowded and that's a fun turn complex.

Saw Dario, Roger Penske, Chip Ganassi, and several other drivers in the Paddock. Penske is the consummate professional and team owner.

Jealous of you seeing Mears - one of my racing heros

I saw Mears and got daps from Arie Luyendyk. Also got an autograph from Josef Newgarden and Sarah Fisher.

Grand-Am fanwalk was cool. Saturday is by far the best day to be in the paddock.

Jealous of you seeing Mears - one of my racing heros

got a picture a few years ago, but actually got to talk to him for a few minutes this year. he's very approachable when he's not working.

so is Arie, but don't try to shake his hand.

So IRL wants to ink a longer term deal with Barber but they'd like to see more passing.

My suggestion is to take the kink out of the top of the museum turn. Both cars and bikes go straight through it but you have to go through one at a time. If they took the kink out then cars could dive into the turn off the straight coming out of the hairpin (Charlotte's web). Side by side cars coming through the museum turn would be visible to all the spectators on the back stretch and would have to be resolved before the chicane. Finally, the kink is completely unviewable from any spot on the track and it would only be a small part of the track that would need reworked. Otherwise, you'd need major track renovation to get a passing spot.

I'm talking getting rid of 7A and 7B and basically making 7 and 8 one big sweeper.
