i'm going to do everything in my power to be there. hopefully a sports car race will be included.

i think an IRL and Grand-Am/Rolex/whatever ticket would be a solid weekend.

if they add Nashville too i will be happy boy.

I doubt Rolex/Grand Am would be included since they run in July and are the biggest car event at the track currently.

I suspect the Indy Lights will be here. A sports car series might be included as well.

I wish it was a little wider, IndyCar will suck there, they're too big for the track. I'm looking to be there though, it'd be a great birthday present.

I've seen 2 IRL practice sessions at Barber and IRL will definitely NOT suck there. The cars are not bigger than the Daytona prototypes that have run at Barber successfully for at least 4 years.

Sportscar racing is a whole 'nother bucket of fish than OWR. Those guys can bang as much as they want. Example being Laguna Seca. Great for sportscars. OW cars, not so much.

I saw 3 CART races at Mid-Ohio. It's a narrow road course and they did fine. Barber is a bit more technical but there is enough room. It's definitely more friendly to open-wheel than any of the street circuits the IRL currently uses.

Bring your ear plugs. The IRL race i attended at nashville speedway just about left me deaf. Those cars are extremely loud.

Great finish in that race - I was pulling for Steady Eddy.

Oops - I thought you meant the one in Kentucky.

I worked as a corner worker/flagman at Mid-Ohio, and I 100% agree with you. Barber is wider and more open with less elevation change I believe. I can't imagine it being more difficult than Mid-Ohio.

I was at the first Indy Car race at Mid-Ohio when it was still USAC, the first time they rain Indy Cars in the rain. It was a debacle, with Joe Saldana running right through my flagging station. It was a miracle no one was killed, Joe had to be cut out of the guardrail that was wrapped around his head. If there had been a fire, he would have
been toast.

I wish I could be there, but I am scheduled for back surgery the week before.

Mid Ohio might be tighter, but the braking zones are more pronounced. Barber has no good braking zones.

I am not familiar enough with Barber so I will concede the point, but what does that have to do with how well Indy Cars will run there? They brake as well as any cars that have run there.

That's the problem, they brake too well. There needs to be mistakes for overtaking in a spec series. Besides, they barely use the brakes. The track has so much flow that it isn't hard on brakes.

they should make some serious scrilla off this event.

already we've paid for 3 of the three day passes and a 50.00 dollar parking pass. if we decide to buy the 60.00 dollar Paddock pass i may need to think about how bad i want to go to Bristol next Sunday.

everything i've read about the facilities, though, has been excellent. hopefully i'll be able to use Saturday to scout the place for the best seat on Sunday.

bham...where are you gonna be throughout the weekend? any spots better than others? my old man raves about the place.

I'll let bham answer specifically, but at most road courses, I like to walk the track watching from different locations to get a better feel for the entire race. It is best to use preliminary races to scout out your favorite spots. Then for the feature event you don't waste time at the less desirable parts. I also find sections I like are not always crowd favorites.
