This looks a lot more serious than the previous two.

I like it.

They actually went with the Mandarin. I'm impressed.

He can be a PR nightmare if done the wrong way

Me too. The more serious approach is a welcome change for me. This will be the 4th movie with Stark/Iron Man, the billionaire/smarta$$/egomaniac is fun but its time to take the next step with him in the series.

So the timeline for the next set of movies appears to be (at the moment):

Iron Man 3 - May 3, 2013
Thor: Dark World - Nov 8, 2013
Captain America: The Winder Soldier - Apr 4, 2014

Avengers 2 - May 1, 2015

Wait a sec, that dude wasn't Asian. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Mandarin a descendant of Genghis Kahn? I remember he used to to talk about him a lot.

What about Guardians of the Galaxy? It has to tie into what they are trying to do with Thanos somehow.

Yes it will. They are expanding the cosmic characters to help set up A2.

Kevin Feige of Marvel has said there won't be a Hulk sequel until after Avengers 2 at this point. He also said comic boom story lines Planet Hulk and World War Hulk could be used as story lines.

Ugh... Planet Hulk story is sooooo overrated. WWH was even worse. I can think of several Hulk storylinez that would be much better. But I guess that would fit into the cosmic universe they are building for the films.

There is also loose talk of doing a Hulk TV show instead. Hard to see that happening unless the cost of digital fx drops enough to make a show feasible.

Why is it so hard to make a sequel now? Isn't Ruffalo signed on for 3 films? Make a Hulk 2 with him. I'd like to see an individual Hulk film with him playing the role. I guess Marvel is making him out to be an assemble-only character.

I think it has more to do with box office performance. We all know Ang Lee's Hulk didn't fare very well (out right bomb) and The Incredible didn't do much better. They are just wary of investing in another solo story.

However, I think most would agree that the Hulk stole the show in Avengers. To me that would warrant another film.

The box office performance was decent for both Hulk films. They made over 240 million each. I don't think you can label either film as as an "out right bomb". I remember reading that The Incredible Hulk sequel will come between Avengers 2 and 3.

They don't think it will do as well as the want it to after the last two...

Honestly, I would think a sequel (with Ruffalo) would AT LEAST hit $400m box office. All of the other Avenger films have. And knowing that there's an Avengers 2 coming in 2015, people will want to see the progressing stories of each character. I know I'd be there to see it. But I guess the Hulk is kinda hard to make a solo film out of. Both of the Hulk movies had a lot of boring/slow moments. Couldn't stand the Bana one and Norton was the only reason why I liked the reboot. The Incredible Hulk is my least favorite of the individual Avengers' films.

My personal opinion on why the Hulk movies have been the weakest of the bunch is they have tried to incorporate too much of the 70's TV show and not enough of the comics.

I liked the cinematography of Ang Lee's version but the plot was terrible. Incredible was better but still missed the mark as far as capturing the essence of the character from the comics.
