Back in my playing days in high school, had a guy on the team that "flopped" trying to draw charges all the time. About 5 times a season he would get a technical called on him by the officials when it was not even close.

Is this still a technical? When is the last time anyone remembers it being called in a college game? Maybe it is all the time, I haven't paid attention.

The reason I bring this up is I saw one of the worst flops ever put on display by a Kentucky player this afternoon. I guess JP and Brian Williams would have their share of Ts for this as well.

Just wondering.

No. If it were a technical, Shane Battier would have been disqualified from every game he ever played at Duke.

The downside to a flop is taking yourself out of a play or begging a ref to call a blocking foul on you.

Yes, it is still in the rule book to be called as a technical. However, refs just don't call it but they definitely need to.

The NBA began to crack down on flopping last year... going as far as imposing fines and such.
