Have you ever had a man crush?

In the last few years I’ve noticed a few friends have developed, what I call a man crush on another friend. Quick background on this, one buddy is single and literally tries to spend everyday with one of our friends who is married and has young kids. All conversations with him lead to this other friend. Another guy bases his decision to hangout with our group (both as couple and for a guys night out) on whether or not this one guy is going. If that guy isn’t going he wants no part of it. There’s another one which is similar to the first one but he’s married and neglects his kids and wife to hang with this other guy. A few of our friends laugh about it but none of us understand what seems to be an infatuation these men have with another man. Is this normal?

So several dudes have all developed a crush on the same guy?

This all sound strange to me. I always thought man-crush was a joke regarding a celebrity.

The responses in this thread have left me frustrated. The OP threw out a soft ball for an all-time classic. It wasn't even very hard.

One of my good friends in college had a man crush in a guy. We lived on the same floor, and we hung out a lot. He was always talking about his “best friend,” who went to the same university, yet I hardly ever saw this best friend. Every weekend plan we made always revolved around his “best friend’s” schedule, but for some reason, this friend never showed up to anything we did. I finally met him halfway through the school year, and the best friend did not seem very interested in hanging out with us. It was strange and frustrating, because plans were always changing to accommodate the man crush, and then he wouldn’t even show up. lol
