The state football championships are this wknd and I was curious if there are any players on the watch list for UT playing. Currently Alcoa is ahead of Milan 7-0 and driving again close to halftime. In Knoxville it is being broadcasted on CSS.

My little brother who plays for Catholic High in Knoxville is playing in Murfreesboro tomorrow against a team from Memphis (Mitchell, I think?). Anyone know about the team from Memphis?

if you want to be technical yes, but Nashville is a stone throw away.

Murfreesboro might take offense to being a 'technicality,' after all, the plan was for it to be the capital (and it was for a few years), as it is the geographic center of Tn. Of course, Nashville couldn't have that.

The Memphis team is indeed Mitchell. They beat my alma mater (Dyersburg) in the quarterfinals. I wasn't at the game, but here's what I know from people that were: I know that they are pretty versatile. They usually rely on a running game, as they did against Lipscomb last week. DHS shut it down pretty well, but they had over 400 yards passing against Dyersburg (most of it to one huge receiver). It's weird because they always seem to play to the level of their competition -- they never seem to blow anyone out. DHS was driving the ball really well in the first half 2 weeks ago, but Mitchell made some unreal halftime adjustments and shut down dyersburg's offense in the second half. Most of Dyersburg's points were scored on long runs. I am pretty sure there were 3 that went for more than 40 yards. Also, like most inner city memphis teams, Mitchell has no kicking game to speak of. They missed a couple of extra points in the QF's and ended up going for 2 most of the time. I also think they had some bad snaps on punts...
