Realistic expectation prior to the game was at least a four touchdown loss. That being the case, this game simply demonstrated that Alabama in 2013 is much better than Tennessee in 2013.

Yeah, but . . .

The way the Bama offense boat raced us in the first half with very basic stuff should not have happened. I can deal with being out talented, but it's painful watching busts and missed tackles. Particularly, that slip screen that turned into a TD and the slot receiver running free on 3rd and long for a TD were just inexcusable.

The outcome was about what I expected, but I saw a few things happen that I thought we had begun to move past.

of course I'm upset being a huge Vol fan. Do I understand it? yes. But it definitely hurts to watch your team get beat like that

Yes, but only because it is Bama and I felt we would beat the spread and at least give them a bit of a game.

But not to the extent of calling for coaches' or players' heads. What happened wasn't surprising.

Told a friend yesterday we had less than a 5% chance of winning this game. Therefore, I'm not disappointed we lost, however, I was disappointed the way our offensive and defensive lines were manhandled for most of the game , especially defensive. Hopefully, we will play better in the trenches the next 4 games.

I didn't expect to win but I have to admit I'm a little disappointed we weren't more competitive. It was a glorified scrimmage for bama.

Yeah the lack of a pass rush was awful. There was a ton of holding going on though. Not excuses, just sayin.

That no fumble call was the epitomy of the officiating today.

It is what it was. A talented team whipped an up and coming team. Hurts a little. But truth be told I'm happy at 4-4 at this point. All though it should be 5-3.

Not disappointed. Wish we would've been a little more competitive but better days are ahead and Bama will get theirs.

Never thought we would win, but I firmly believed the line on the game was ridiculous. Pretty upset it was THAT lopsided.

Your QB gets picked off and he's the only one pursuing and making the tackle.

Poor tackling from start to finish. No penetration of their OL, so that even their RBs could bounce back to the outside and beat our LBs to the corner. Embarrassing so many times.

Realistically, sure we didn't expect to knock off Alabama today. That didn't mean we had to regress to last year's technique and effort.

I feel the same as many of my other Vol brethren have already stated. Unhappy with the loss, because it's Bama - but I didn't expect to win. I did expect to make a better showing though.

I knew a win wasn't likely, but I'm always optimistic . Just the fan in me I guess . I think we can beat Mizzou though

Not with the loss but certainly the execution. We just didn't play well in any aspect of the game. I hate being dominated again by Bama. But, I think we found our option at QB for the rest of the year.

It's a sad commentary on the state of the program that it's expected to lose to Alabama and 35 point losses are considered OK by the fanbase.

Look....I get it. Alabama is much better. It is not an excuse for their offense to go through this defense like a knife through soft butter though.

But it's time for this fan base to grow a set of b-lls and expect better from the team.

You are right. South Alabama may have been playing in a different class, but they played their hearts out to give a good acquittal of themselves. Because the other team is bigger and leaner doesn't mean you should shy away from tackling and blocking them. It was just sad at times.
