is anyone really upset with this loss?

Would like to have seen the Vols play a better game, but I didn't have realistic hope of winning short of bammer making some mistakes. As it turns out, we made a couple more than them anyway.

I saw enough fight in the second half to be encouraged for our next game and IMO the future with Butch is bright.

I'll take it. It's a huge improvement over the sense of dread I felt with Dooley last year.

Your QB gets picked off and he's the only one pursuing and making the tackle.

Poor tackling from start to finish. No penetration of their OL, so that even their RBs could bounce back to the outside and beat our LBs to the corner. Embarrassing so many times.

Realistically, sure we didn't expect to knock off Alabama today. That didn't mean we had to regress to last year's technique and effort.

Bingo. Also, throw in keeping an injured QB in the game despite the fact he was obviously struggling to throw the ball.

Realistic expectation prior to the game was at least a four touchdown loss. That being the case, this game simply demonstrated that Alabama in 2013 is much better than Tennessee in 2013.
We did help their cause though.

I don't see how anyone could be disappointed by the loss. Yes i was a little frustrated withe offensive output but that's it. I fully expected for us o get destroyed. Alabama is not Georgia, UF or SC.

You are right. South Alabama may have been playing in a different class, but they played their hearts out to give a good acquittal of themselves. Because the other team is bigger and leaner doesn't mean you should shy away from tackling and blocking them. It was just sad at times.

This felt too much like a Dooley game from last year.

The defense got hit in the mouth early and went into a shell.

Bama won that game before they took the field because they were in the defenses collective head.

I will never get to the point that I can be satisfied with a Vols team that beats itself as much as the other other team does through lousy execution, poor decisions, and poor effort.

Trying not to burn a redshirt. If Worley could play he probably would have left him in. I wouldn't have blamed CBJ if he did

Disappointed, but not suprised. On the bright side, I got my yard mowed this afternoon.

Not surprised, but upset because I hate losing to Bama, and Florida every single year. Ugg. I love Butch, but I miss Fulmer. I believe Butch has us moving in the right direction. I also don't think Worley was ever 100% today. I also think it is going to be hard to keep Dobbs on the bench from here on out.

Like many, I hoped that we could pull a win or keep it very close. I did think that we would lose but would fight until the final minute regardless of the score. We didn't. It was mailed in my the coaching staff in the third quarter. When the towel was thrown in, I quit watching.

The bright spots today. We played Bama better than we played Oregon. We scored 10 points in the last half today, after scoring only 16 points combined in the previous last 6 games against Bama in the last half. Marquez North. Josh Dobbs.

Dang! I needed to do that too. Would have too if we hadn't had people over to watch the game. My spousal unit would have reprimanded me if I had walked out and started mowing.

I'm upset because we haven't ganed any ground on Alabama since satan has been there. It's not CBJ fault it's the true heads the programs past that put us this far behind. God bless Butch he's the right man for this job, but we got a few years to go. Brick by Brick- VFL

I don't think anyone who understands the situation we are in good be too upset with this loss... The perfect storm was brewing all week long with the media challenging Alabama the way they did.... They are that much better right now then we are... Of course some of our teams six date years ago could've played well today..,, but let's not forget we still are playing walk on freshman..,, you do not go to Tuscaloosa Alabama and beat them with walk on freshman..,,,,NOT going to happen..,, just like you would not do that to UT in the past..,,

I'm disappointed but it didn't come unexpectedly. Although, had UT scored on the drive at the end of the half instead of throwing a pick 6 it might of been a lot closer. But if's and buts were..... you know. Either way, I thought Dobbs looked great, better than I expected and I think it is his job to lose the rest of the year. I think we have a really good chance winning out. But we will have to play better.

Hell yeah I'm upset. I live among idiot bama fans and I can't stand them. I was at the very least hoping we could compete like men but they made us look like a bunch of boys AGAIN. I hate bama. I hate their fans even more, and now I have to deal with them talking sh!t all week.

I'm not upset, but am disappointed that we weren't more competitive...but at least we never quit or gave up in the game, and I'm proud to be a VOL!

Some of my disappointments are:

1) our continued failure to ATTACK THE MIDDLE OF THE FIELD! Even Danielson commented on that FACT after Worley threw his interception at the end of the first half. It's disappointing to watch the middle of the field be open game after game after game and our OC keeps asking our QBs to make THE MOST difficult throws in football--20-25 yd outs on the sidelines...and it cost us!

2) Disappointed in the drops and incompletions by the receivers on passes that were very well thrown and extremely catchable...I'm sure CBJ will not tolerate that going forward...

3) Extremely disappointed in our LB and DB play...I thought we'd be better against the run...and I won't call out their names, but that quick screen to #83 that went for a TD was the EXACT same play the Gators ran against us for a TD--and we still, in game 8, haven't learned to read it, react, and make the tackle for a 5 yd gain. Also, our CB and Safeties simply don't understand the concept of keeping outside leverage near the goal-line on running plays. NONE of them get it done--and I mean NONE OF THEM! Watch the tape....

We did make some plays on D, and did have some good plays on Offense...and we ran what must be Bajakian's version of the bootleg when he hit that long pass to North as he traversed the field--I think it was in the 3rd Quarter....

Today's game REALLY demonstrated our lack of elite talent across the board--and the monumental job CBJ and staff MUST GET DONE on the recruiting trail. WE NEED LBs and DBs in the worst way!

I'm not discouraged as I think CBJ really is the MAN to get it done....and DOBBS looked absolutely PROFESSIONAL out there today...We do indeed have a bright future with him as our QB....PROUD TO BE A VOL! GO VOLS! :salute:

Can't be upset by losing to the #1 team in the country. I don't like losing but let's get two or three more wins and a bowl game. No one will give a shart about the bama game then.

Not upset THAT they lost. Upset with HOW we lost. Totally dominated, played very, very poor defense, couldn't tackle, bad on special teams, WRs regressed considerably today (besides North). Expected a loss. Didn't expect THAT loss. It was bad.

Not disappointed. Thought our kicking/punting was awesome, did well at pinning them back a few times.

I thought Worley played well most of the game. The thumb hindered him, but I've been proud of his general progress. I think even if Dobbs does well the remainder of this year, I think Worley still could start next year. I was impressed with Worley's wheels a few times this game.

I thought our running game was fair. We threw a lot more than I thought we would. I can't wait until we're able to achieve the balance that Bama has (51% running, 49% passing?)

Thought our WR's came up with some big plays, North especially. Croom had some good ones and Cody Blanc finally stumbled into existence for once. Still some costly drops, but it's a very young position.

OL blocked well, didn't see any sacks. There may have been some, but for the most part, the QB had time to throw, and holes were there.

Thought the D could have played better, but Bama is one of the best at really running a defense down and making them be out there for a while. They grind it out on offense.

Thought Dobbs stepped into a really harsh environment, and played as well as a Freshman QB could. I would have pooped myself to hear "Hey you're going in against Alabama, you know, the 2 time reigning National Champs that are poised to repeat? Strap up." Thought he made some good decisions, I thought the coaches turned him loose a little bit, let him throw it deep, let him run a few times. I am very optimistic about our QB situation. I'm also confident that Ferguson would have played just as well. I think he is going to be solid for us as well. Hate that we burned the redshirt, but I think it will work out well for us in the end.

Overall, proud. I know we got hammered. But we did score 10 in the second half, we did manage to get a touchdown on them, which, believe it or not, is a moral victory. It's pretty rare. And we managed to get some big plays. Didn't quit.

No matter what our record comes out to be, Team #117 is quickly becoming one of my favorites to watch.
