First the guy cheats by using steroids and then he trys to deny it. Now he is calling out the press to deflect attention away from himself. It is a shame that he has to be that way. He will go down as one of the most despised players ever. It is a shame that he is going to break the records of Ruth and Aaron, two men who did not cheat the game of baseball.

Bonds think that somehow he is above all of the allegations. I guess he thinks he has a free pass since he is so close to the HR record. If baseball accepts his breaking the record while admitting to being on steriods, then I will finally lose the last thread of respect for the game. Granted there is several forms of cheating that goes on in the game of baseball. Corked bats, pitchers using substances on the baseball, 2nd base not touched while turing the double play . . but steroids are well above that and should get the harshest penalty. This guy admitted to cheating to a grand jury and yet baseball will probably shower him with attention when he breaks their most storied record with cheaters stats. To me, this will be worse than their last baseball strike.

To answer your question....YES..Barry is a moron. A great athlete but none the less a MORON.

To me Bonds typifies everything that is wrong in baseball. Cutting corners with illegal drugs is just wrong. Basball decided to turn a blind eye but that does not make it right either. No way Bonds hits 70-something homers without steroids.

Now Bonds is a great player, we can all agree on that. BUT I do not think he would be chasing any HR records without the use of steroids. Plus Bonds is a flat-out jerk who thinks he is above going by the rules. I hope they put an asterisk behind every record he achieves.

Is he a great athlete, or a good athlete made great by steroids? I mean the guy was not jacking the ball out of parks at these numbers while in Pittsburg. He is lauded today for nothing more than his homrun hitting ability and the fear he puts into pitchers. Not only is he a confessed cheater of the game but he also goes to the plate with more protection than a middle linebacker. I can't say that I blame the pitchers for walking the guy. With all that protection on him, he pretty much takes away half of the strike zone from the pitcher and forces them to throw it to his hot spots. Baseball needs to remove about 75% of that protection from him and other batters.

He'll never beat Hank's record without the proverbial *asterisk*. Aaron not only holds the record, he earned the record while enduring terrible off the field pressure from some Georgia Crackers (not the baseball team). :(

I do not see the difference of breaking Ruth's record and Aaron's record as far as the asterisk goes. To me there should be an asterisk behind both records if they are broken.

I have heard that Aaron did receive alot of death threats and other threats and that is certainly a shame. Aaron is all class. I live in Atl Ga and Aaron still does not get the attention you would think he deserves.

Not to make excuses for his actions, but the new field there is much more homer friendly than candlestick or Pittsburg for his left handed batting. Not saying he would have hit as many home runs. They are an unbelievable amount for a "regular" guy. But, in that ballpark and his undruged power, his homeruns would have still gone up. Just not to the level they went to on steroid power. That ballpark in right field was designed for him. Alot of the retro ballparks are being designed for the resident power franchise hitter, whether they are on steroids or not. That being said, I do not agree with the cheating, nor records being accepted under such circumstances once proven. I am a life long baseball junky. Played as long as I could physically, then went on to serious has been adult softball, travelling and playing tournaments and leagues. Then on to coaching Little League and Junior/Senior League. It is the class sport of all times to me. It should be pure team, pure integrity, and pure professional at all levels. My players were not even allowed to look sideways at an umpire or another player or they would get benched. The happenings of baseball of late are a disgrace.

I did think what he had to say about people booing him was pretty funny.

"It takes some serious talent to get 53,000 to scream that you suck."

While listening to Bonds talk, the more defensive he got the more guilty he sounded.

On a side note, I thought it was funny that Canseco names I-Rod as a roid user and just coincidental with the tougher testing policy, he shows up to spring training at a weight of 185 lbs. Down from the 225-ish that he has played at for years.

give this guy some credit man

credit for being a roided up superstar who broke records with a chemically enhanced body who thinks everybody is stupid enough to believe he didn't know what was in the syringe.... but I regress he's not the only chemically enhnaced player on the field and MLB let it happen to keep filling stadiums and their pockets

He didn't come up with that all by himself. Many people have played the race card. ::cough:: OJ ::cough::

I didn't hear him play the race card, so I am not sure if he did or not. However, if he did then he should be ashamed of himself. If he did, you can just put him in the category of african americans who think that racism is a horrible thing until they can benefit from it. :twocents:

Bonds has gotten his records with the juiced ball, shrunken down ball parks, watered down pitching, loaded up on performance enhancing drugs and on and on and on. He is a very good player but NOT a Ruth, Cobb, Mays, DiMaggio, Williams, or the handful of other TRUE Greats.

Very true - there's a lot of ways to knock Bonds' accomplishments . . . but you also have to remember that Ruth hit a lot of homeruns into a 300 ft right field porch in the old configuration of Yankee stadium - and he never faced a black pitcher. I think that's what motivates Bonds more than anything. Wouldn't surprise me in the least bit if he passed Ruth this year and then just walked away and let Aaron's record stand.
