I see where UT just announced flex ticket pricing for about 6800 seats in the upper south end zone. Tickets can be had as low as 20 bucks per seat. Personally, I think that this is a good thing as it will help to increase the likelihood of sellouts (albeit with a lower gross profit) and enable folks who, otherwise were priced out of going to the games, an opportunity to see their Vols in person.

I'm curious to see how this will affect the pricing of tickets on secondary markets such as StubHub. I feel like it will help drive prices lower on those sites because of the increase availability of cheaper tickets through the UT ticket office.

What say you?

If I read it right the $20 seats will just be for the first 3 games. It said SC,GA would be $80 one would be $70 can't remember that one and Vandy would be $55

Those seats are usually not filled now during the easy games, so not really losing anything. If they can unload a few, that's more money for them and more bodies.

Yes its a good thing, we need Neyland full.

A loud, rowdy capacity crowd CAN help a team win.

concessions also bring alot of $. If they profit a total of $1 for a hotdog and coke and you have an extra 5,000 people buying them well that starts to add up.

WE need $$$$!!!!! Butch is here now and we are going to have to build more Trophy cases :)

It's a good thing. And the ones they don't sell by the end of the first quarter should be donated to local Boys Club, etc to let these kids experience Tennessee football. And who knows, there might be a future athlete or season ticket holder in that bunch of kids.

If you're the one fixing the prices it's great! Why pay high prices when the game can be watched in the comforts of home enjoying your favorite beverages without the worry of a very expensive DUI. On the other hand there's nothing like game day atmosphere in Neyland Stadium !

I like this idea. It will probably never happen, but I like it nevertheless.

Definitely a positive thing.

It's similar to running an airline. With an airline, costs are mostly fixed for each flight and the additional cost for each new passenger is rather low. There's a lot of money left on the table any time there are a lot of empty seats.

The stadium is similar. What's the cost for bringing in one additional person? Very low! You might need a small bit of extra labor (more people checking tickets, more people selling concessions), but for the most part, every extra dollar of revenue is pure profit. If you sell more at the concession stand, even better!

STUDENTS SHOULD GET FREE TICKETS. Then Neyland would look full.

I got free tickets my time there. The money these kids are paying, especially out of state kids, it is ridiculous that they are not given free tickets to ALL sporting events. I belive we could get 4 student tickets with one student ID. Just have the student section and when they are gone thats it.

I'm curious. Would students be willing to forego their current allotted seats in AA-FF and down in E at $15 per pop for free tickets in the rows above 16 in sections QQ thru GG? I think the current seating arrangement is a good deal for the students, personally.

This mirrors my experience as a student.

In my opinion Hamilton got the renovation of Neyland backwards. He should've spent the money upgrading the inside (widening concourses, renovating the rediculously nasty restrooms and adding more of them for women, renumbering the seats to actually reflect adults who consume bacon, cracking down on the overly drunk idiots yellin' profanities, upgrading the quality and selection of concessions, etc). No doubt the exterior looks fantastic but more should've been done to improve the experience of the common fan. Convince the common fan that $80/ticket to see UT play UGA or USC is a bargain. Let's be honest, those 2 games are the highlight of this year's home schedule and that's pretty sad.

If the goal was a full stadium, the TN Terrace funds should've gone elsewhere. In addition they should've reversed course on the student ticket policy. During UT's worst spell in a generation they actually tried to charge students for the privilege to watch a Dooley coached team. They probably fail to realize that they've lost an opportunity to gain a significant number of potential future donors.

I don't mind paying $10 for a student ticket to see my vols. it's a privilege and the only student sporting event we have to pay for.

It sounds good unless you're a season ticket holder like me. I feel like I'm being punished for being loyal and paying early. I would feel much better about it if they just gave the tickets away to youth groups like the Boy Scouts or Boys & Girls Club. The discounted tickets are a BAD IDEA.

As I Vol fan and grad student in the mental health field (read as "broke"), I disagree with you.

I get what your saying but the way I see it is that your paying more to guarantee that you get the same seats each game and each year.

If not for that, what would be the advantage of having season tickets in the upper level?

My point is that ALL of the tickets should be discounted or SOME should be given away free. That would fill the stadium by allowing all Vol fans a way to see a live game for a reasonable price. How can anyone disagree with that rational?

I'll gladly sit in different seats each week for a reduced ticket price.

Than buy them in a package when their released each year or call up the ticket office and ask what kind of deals they got for season tix. A buddy of mine got setup with no donation last year in the upper level. The only thing he lost was the ability to renew for the same seats each year.
