They seem to be drawing interest from Muschamp and Herman..is it because of the speculation that they may be a future B12 team? Levine's salary was only 900K..Houston would have to at least double that to get either of those two coaches

Houston: According to Yahoo Sports' Pat Forde, Ohio State offensive coordinator / quarterbacks coach Tom Herman is a candidate for their head coaching vacancy. Herman won the Broyles Award this year as the top assistant coach, and has been at Ohio State for the past three seasons.

It's a great job. They have a ton of talent all around them. And they play in a crappy conference.

apparently not good enough for Muschamp to say yes to the job. What does it say about the job if someone turns down the HC position to be DC at an SEC school?

And I'm sure the $1.6-1.8 million a year at Auburn is more than Houston would pay. Not to mention that he was the DC there before and a GA there before that.

When you're being paid $1.6 mill a year to be DCoord, not a lot. Tony Levine wasn't even making a million a year.

It looks like the article is more of a blurb for the podcast attached/in it.


Listening to the podcast, it sounds more like they're talking about either conference making a mark in the city of Houston (via the upcoming bowl game), not whether or not either one is seriously considering adding the University of Houston as a future conference member.

Big 12 Commissioner also said anyone joining/coming in would have to bring pro rata (proportional) value (and that it'd have to be around $25 mil), and that there's a relatively short - if nonexistent- list that can do that (while mentioning that the presidents and ADs of the schools like them at 10 for now and they'll likely stay at 10).

U of H football has perplexed me in recent years. They've got new place to play in which is cool. The best ear recently was when Briles was there then Sumlin came in. They had great assistant coaches, and a ton of speed at the skill position.

Around this time, they acquired some respect.

Gonna be tough to get back to that level I'd guess.

After looking around, they hired the right guy. Cougar high can be great in a few years. Not "playoff" great but they should win 9-10 games regularly......& then someone bigger will steal their coach.

UofH is a great gig for an up and comer. Resent coaches from Houston are Sumlin (A&M), Briles (Baylor), Kingsbury (Tech) and Phil Montgomery (Tulsa).

No one cared about Baylor until a couple of years ago. Houston could rise up with the right coach.
