reporting that Trooper Taylor will be leaving Tennessee to join the staff at UGA. Hope its not true, but I won't be surprised if it happens. He need to leave RIGHT NOW if he wants to leave. Right after we sign the 2006 recruits(kinda dirty on our part, but.....) and before position coaches can start really building relationships with 2007 prospects. Would be a big loss and a fitting in to what has been one of the worst years ina very long time for Tennessee football.

I don't think there is much to it at this point. I actually tried to call 106.7 to see what was said but could not get through. I don't know of anyone on that Georgia staff that is leaving or getting canned.

well i'm sure somebody has mentioned it on here already but the rumor was that rodney garner wanted taylor to come and coach with him down there because apparently they are big buddies

Yeah, thats been rumored for a while. It could explain some things.

UGA's staff is getting rearranged but I don't think anyone's getting canned. And from the rearranging I've heard about there could be a slot for Trooper.

That would be big trouble for us. Garner, Trooper, and Richt would be very hard to beat in recruiting or on the field.

Richt would do anything to gain a recruiting advantage, whether it was rumor or fact. I find it pretty convenient that the news comes out on Signing Day.

I think it is a rumor at this point - my boss is a HUGE dawg fan and he hasn't heard anything about he - he is pretty connected to the program - who knows though.

The only thing that's come out is that they're shuffling. Some say to make some room. But if this rumor is true, they've kept it close to the vest.

That's a great point. I heard this rumor was going around for a while and it was being used against us in recruiting.

7:30 EST. I'm not a drinker anymore either, so I'm right there with ya. Matter of fact, I need to throw some clothes on and get on down the road.

The Trooper rumor is at least a week old now. I started a thread on it last week and it got moved to the Pub. It's still on the first page if interested.

I've been thinking about this thread for a while and after watching last year I can tell you this. I would rather have a coach that can coach, rather than a recruiter that can't. I am not saying Trooper can't coach or that I don't want him around. He is simply an unproven commodity as a coach. I will admit that he lit a fire under JR, and that the backs looked pretty good last year, but UT has and will continue to have a program if he goes.

I just feel it is a very bad time for him to leave. Obviously, Kurt Roper was no prize. He just happened to be the guy to say yes after several others declined. Right now UT football is vulnerable and we are not going to attract any great assistants. I'm not a Trooper fan but I'd rather he stick around another year or two because I am afraid of what might follow him.

I agree that the timing is terrible. You have to think that some of the recruits thought that UT was already a sinking ship, but what is worse for a program, a coach that WANTS to be here, or one that is looking for the back door?

This is one of those rare times when he should just come out pubicly and say he isn't going anywhere. I think that is what I am looking for from TT. Tell us he is giving his all to this program.
