I was wondering has anyone heard whether or not Jasmine Jones is done just for the season (which I am assuming and will apply for a medical redshirt) or has her and her mom decided to call it a career for her based on her history of concussions. We are already thin in the Post next year (Losing Graves and Nia) and we also have no Post recruits from the 2016 class and with the way we are playing it's highly unlikely any of the top JUCO Post will choose us over other Top Programs, which leaves us with our only natural post player being Russell (If Jasmine is done). Has anyone heard anything?

I have wondered the same thing myself. Holly said some time ago that she felt Jasmine would be back, but at this point in the season, it looks very doubtful. Totally understand if she and her family have decided to not play anymore due to the concussions, but it would be nice to know before the season ends. That way perhaps Jasmine could be honored on senior day and receive the appreciation from the fans.

Can the team appeal for another medical hardship year? I think they can, but not exactly sure. We need her next year, but she seems so susceptible to even seemingly minor knocks that it might be best for her to stop with sports.

She's had four concussions in the last two seasons. I think that is a lot and she might should call it a career.
I saw that she was in uniform down at Texas A&M so I am speculating that she have plans to return this season.

Well, I am glad to see someone besides Draya doing that. We have several players who seem to be afraid to go after the ball.

I'm curious on weather she will come back or not too, since there is no news leaking out about her,I'm assuming she will sit out the rest of this season and go for a medical red shirt

with as many concussions as she has had,it might be a good idea for her give up basketball,I would hate to see that happen to her,you can tell by the effort she plays with, that she is proud to be a Lady Vol

how many squad members for next year if she leaves?

Based on recruiting(or lack there of) we would lose 3 (Graves, Moore, Jones who are all Post player btw) which would bring the total on our roster to 9 and they are;

Players-Class
Carter-RS Senior
Reynolds-Senior
Middleton-Junior
Cooper-Sophomore
Jackson-Sophomore
Dunbar-Junior
Nared-Junior
Russell-RS Junior
Diamond-RS Junior (who I think might consider going overseas this offseason and playing if things remain the way they are and then enter the WNBA similar to how Ephiphany Prince did when she still had a year left at Rutgers)

I think it would be difficult to find a doctor that would clear someone with four known concussions in 18 months for contact again. Just my opinion.

I think I watched women's basketball for 20 years and never heard of 1 player getting a concussion--on any team. There probably were some players who did, but I never heard of one. Now, we have lost two players for most of the last three years. Massengale gets slapped in the face--didn't even look that bad, truthfully, certainly not like, say, being undercut while driving to the basket and hitting your head on the floor--and she misses months and the entire last half of the season. Jones gets a concussion early last year and misses the entire season. Then the same thing happens to her this year. Bizarre.

I thought she was cleared by the doctor but Jasmine and her mother made the decision to wait?

We badly need to address our donut 2016 recruiting effort with some very good JC recruiting. We have to pray that Holly and company are on the job. We also have to hope a a good graduate student wing/post player,or two, is looking our way. The thing that hurts the recruitment of two good JC post is competition from top 10 recruitment from other schools. We also need to face reality that Holly does not blow you away during interviews. We also need to face the reality that there is something wrong in our recruitment process when the last post player we recruited was Russell when It continues to be an area of need. Our backs are against the wall. Now we are in a begging and hoping situation, where a top D1 program should never be. Recruitment wise, Holly's recruitment ability, or lack there of, has placed this program between a rock and a hard place. It is plain stupid to let Holly off the hook by saying you can't make players come to Tennessee. That is nothing but a generalized excuse for failure.

Just cause an injury doesn't look bad to you doesn't mean it's not serious and last time i checked concussions are a serious matter and should NEVER be taken lightly.

What got players to UT in the past was Pat....now she is gone and you're left with Holly who is nowhere near Pat...Holly can talk tradition but now players are about how can you make me better for the next level which UT has never had an offense in it's history...Pat took those thoroughbred horses and said if you defend and rebound we will win hince why we never saw a 2-3 zone until she had to face 6'8 Griner....Programs in the top 5 now develop players for the WNBA and overseas....UT cannot

Of course it is. No program is allowed to kidnap recruits. I did not know that issue was in dispute. Yet no other top programs have any trouble recruiting to their needs in the way that we do.

The truth is that our competition has some very effective arguments to use against us. Recruits are buying those arguments, and from what we have seen this year it looks like they may be correct to do so. If we had a press that covered our team rather than cheerleaders who root for it then we would know why we are having so much trouble on the recruiting trail.

Instead all we get are apologetics.

That's not what I understand to be the case.

She is clear for activity, not for contact.

Thanks for that update DeerPark.

I hope that Jasmine and her mother somehow find the wisdom to make the best (right) decision. This has to be terrible not knowing if you're risking some kind of permanent injury just by playing a game of basketball.

Diamond's parents would never allow that. They want her to get her degree.
