I'm pretty sure we all know about the shirt they released a couple weeks ago, the Catholics vs the cousins, of a course a national title shirt mocking Bama. They released another one yesterday that says the golden domers vs the mobile homers. I just don't know if I would piss off Alabama considering they are now liable to really go off and hang about 60. I would prefer a more quiet and serious approach. Anyways, y'all's opinions?

I think they're just trying to be truthful. Catholics are honest people by nature. And the stereotypes associated with Alabamans are absolutely accurate. I can't hate on someone that's simply being truthful.

I know for a fact Notre Dame will not get blown out by Alabama. Notre Dame's defensive front seven is among the best in the nation. There is a reason they are 12-0. They are not flashy in their wins but they are
NOT going to lose by more than two touchdowns. Not saying Notre Dame is going to win, but too many people are thinking Bama will put up big points on them. You just don't put up 40+ points on teams like Notre Dame.

Seems like ND is just giving Bama board material for them to put up in the locker room. I could see Bama using it to hang some points on them if it comes down to it.

Notre Dame would be making the same shirts if they were playing Tennessee, Georgia, most any team from the SEC.

My hatred for Notre Dame is equal to if not greater than my hatred of Alabama.

I hope Bama crushes the leprechauns. I won't say that two word slogan the bammers use but I hope they do.

Screw Notre Dame.

I see bama winning easily. I don't think ND will put up very many points.

Not sure if you're serious about this statement. Tell that to the thousands of children who were raped and molested by priests, only to have the Catholic church deny and cover-up their stories for decades.

Also, are you implying that Protestants are less honest?

Maybe...probably the same shirts, save if they were playing LSU (Catholics v Cajuns or possibly even Creoles seems more likely there), FL, A&M, Missouri....really anyone outside of the main body deep south (AL, TN, MS, KY...possibly even GA, Atlanta and such could make it debatable)...even South Carolina's shirt-outcome could possibly have varied from the "cousins" list in favor of an already there "Catholics vs 'Cocks"



(though, now I'll step aside for responses from wherever/whoever that Notre Damers are stuck up idiots that stereotype/hate southerners)

All school fanbases pretty much make t-shirts with crap like that for big games (rivalries, championships, conference games, homecoming, etc)...I'm not sure what's so different here other than it's a bigger game, so everything in this prelude/dead period that's relative might be likely to end up under more of a microscope.

This is ridiculous. I went to Catholic school for 12 years. Ther are just as many dirtbag Catholics as anyone else.

As far as bammers, no one hates them more than me but the whole cousins, trailer trash insults are really insults to all the South, not just bammer.

I was for ND bigtime in this game but if they are making shirts like that I might just not be for anyone. They are supposed to be better than that.

He responded to the one guy defending Notre Dame that the south is in fact inbred he and simply responded by pointing out that Catholics have their own history of awfulness. Wars of bled shed and years of raping little boys and nuns. You see the Vatican providing shelter for rapists all the time.

I don't think he's implying that Catholics in general support that stuff but he was responding to someone supporting the claim that all of Alabama is inbred. One is well documented by not only children but nuns. Not sure why you took exception to the response while ignoring the original comment. I hate both Alabama and Notre Dame but most of my family(great people by the way) are Catholics. Doesn't make it any less true that they have their own issues. And I hear all the time from our fans that Alabama and Kentucky are inbred but look what state sits in the middle. Logically, I doubt Tennessee is any less inbred.

Point is... Notre Dame fans are mocking Alabama for being both inbred and trailer trash. You seriously think that's okay but then take exception to someone saying Catholic's have their own problems? If Catholics(most likely well off) are going to play the card that the south is inbred trailer trash, you can't fault people for responding that they're rapists and love little boys. Do you honestly expect the lesser inbred trash to be bigger people while the rich silver spoon folk crap all over them?

If Tennessee was in Alabama's place, Notre Dame fans would make the same comments about us that they're making about Alabama. We're not excluded from the inbred trailer trash stereotype. Defending Notre Dame and pissing on Alabama as if we're exempt is what makes it okay for everyone to view the south as inbred trash. I see people here all the time commenting about bordering states being inbred trash. Great.... if Alabama and Kentucky are inbred trash with missing teeth, so are we.

To clear up any confusion about my post: I'm an old school BSer. Don't believe anything that comes out of my mouth, or in this case, anything I type. I was raised Protestant, and I have no preconceptions about Catholicism. My post was heavily laced with sarcasm...sorry that some of you couldn't see that. And FWIW, I refuse to believe that all Alabamans aren't closely related and don't live in mobile homes. I'm content in my ignorance.
