Look at the Top 20 players in 2013...

11 are committed
8 are going to SEC schools
2 are going to ACC schools
1 is going to PAC-12

With Kentucky being Kentucky, Florida seemingly being in the top 10-15 every year, Tennessee & Arkansas recruiting very well...coupled with the fact the Big East is being blown up...is the SEC about to also be the premier basketball conference???

To keep this in the basketball forum...

Out of the Top 20 guys...

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/rankings/rank-2752

Kentucky has 4 committed
Florida has 2 committed
Arkansas has 1 committed
Tennessee has 1 committed

I think our top 5 could match any other conference. It's the bottom of the conference that's the problem. Also, I expect Mizzou to come in and handle business as well. This conference is REALLY good.

I am sorry guys I love the SEC & Ky. is great. But living in tobbacco road area & the ACC bringing in Syracuse & Pitt. there a pretty stout conference. Hope C.M. does good... but I am a football fan 1 million times over.

The ACC is one I failed to mention...Regular season ACC will be the best. But in the March madness, Kentucky and Florida have shown more the last 5-7 years than anyone in anyother conference other than Duke. UNC has been fairly good, but Pitt and Syracuse get way too many number 1 seeds and lose way too early in the tourney.

Also, I for sure wouldn't count out the ACC. Duke and North Carolina will always be Duke and North Carolina but then you look at what Gottfried is doing at NC State. He's a darn good recruiter and a great coach. FSU has gotten a lot better and it looks like it's here to say. A Turgeon coached Maryland team could be dangerous and Wake Forrest will continue to get better under the ex NBA guy.

I forgot all about Cuse and Pitt. The ACC is hands down the best conference IMO.

We'll be third for awhile, imo. ACC just got stronger with Pitt and Cuse joining them. Big 10 will be great for awhile now that IU is where they are now.

This year i think the big east will have our number again.
They hold a 16-12 advantage over us which isnt as bad as what i thought. We can catch up with them!!

Kentucky at Notre Dame
Marquette at Florida
South Carolina at St. John's
Seton Hall at LSU
Syracuse at Arkansas
Tennessee at Georgetown
DePaul at Auburn
Georgia at South Florida
Alabama at Cincinnati
Villanova at Vanderbilt
Mississippi State at Providence
Rutgers at Mississippi

It'll be close this year. Not tryin to hijack your thread, bto

The top 3 conferences (ACC, Big10, SEC) will be pretty comparable.

While I don't think the SEC will be the deepest league, I believe we'll often own the Top10 with what Kentucky has always done, Florida is getting back to, and UT, Mizzou, Ark, Vandy are capable of doing consistently.

Don't forget USCe, I expect them the improve considerably under Frank Martin. That would put the SEC at 7 good programs.

I suspect within 2/3 years the SEC will be a 7/8 bid league a year conference...

Kentucky, Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, Mizzou, USCe, Arkansas will all be regulars IMO...

Then you'll have your once every couple year teams IMO.

I think we'll be behind the Big 10 and ACC. But still, a top group of Kentucky, Florida, Tennessee, Missouri, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, and Alabama is very good.

Replace USCe with Vandy. Vandy is rebuilding now, but they'll be back in the tournament soon. I'll believe it when I see it with USCe. They made a great hire, but who knows if that will translate into consistent success. I'm skeptical.

By the end of the season, the SEC could end up being second best, but that also depends on what happens in the Big 10.

Not to mention the additions of Pitt and Syracuse, plus NC State has finally turned the corner.............

Yes. Duke, UNC, Syracuse, Pitt, NC State, Florida State are all at the top of their game, or headed there. Even Wake, Virginia, Ga Tech, Maryland, and now Notre Dame, have had their moments. Any of those step up again, and its that much stronger.

I'd put their top 4 up against any other conference right now.

ACC- Duke UNC, Syracuse, Pitt

SEC- UK, Florida, Tennessee, Missouri
Big 10- Mich. St, Ohio St, Indiana, Michigan
Big 12- Kansas, Baylor, Texas, West Va
Pac 12- Arizona, UCLA, Washington, Stanford
Big East- Louisville, Memphis, UCONN, Marquette

12 of the 14 schools have at least one commitment from a player in rivals Top 150. Only Auburn and Miss State so far don't. With plenty of time left I'm sure some more top 150 talent will be added as well. I know it sounds like you all are close to adding number 18. Austin Nichols, I'm not sure if Kentucky is finished yet, and I know other SEC schools are still after some talented players.

I think with additions of Cuse and Pitt, mainly Cuse, the ACC gets the nod hands down. I do think SEC is definitely of its way to being the 2nd best...I think the SEC becomes a 7/8 bid league regularly within the next 2/3 years.
