Is the East better than the West?

Two undefeated teams in the East in UT & UGA. Undefeated and 1-loss Ole Miss & ‘Bama in the West. UK just took down Miss St, but LSU also beat Florida.

No, but it's mostly because the middle / bottom of the West is way better than the East.

Auburn / Arkansas / A&M > Vanderbilt / Mizzou / South Carolina

Top 3 of each division is debatable, but no way the East's bottom 3 are better than the West's.

The Barn isn't better than USC. They are equal to Mizzou.

The East is returning to their dominance of the conference.

The East has Vandy…that hurts us really bad. The West doesn’t have a team even close to that crap

I find it interesting that Alabama is favored by 21.5 over Kiffin and Ole Miss. Vegas must think they are going to take out their frustrations and pummel the Rebs

Alabama is favored that over Mississippi State, not Ole Miss.

UT & UGA and the strongest teams, so that gives an edge to the East as far as a playoff run is concerned. West is deeper top to bottom.

The west is the deeper division, but the Top 3 in the east is stronger than the top 3 in the west. Neither of it means a lot though.

For example, by saying the west is stronger because it is tougher from top to bottom, it would equate to the Big XII being the toughest league because they don’t have any program as hopeless as Vandy or even Missouri (and you could probably throw this year’s historically awful Auburn into that category). However the Big XII doesn’t have near the strength at the top of their conference as the SEC.

Overall OOC records in 2022-
vs total out of conference opponents:
ACC: 20-11 .645
Big 10: 24-9 .727
Big XII: 17-5 .773
PAC 12: 15-9 .625
SEC: 28-5 .848

Conference records vs P5 opponents
ACC: 6-7 .462
Big 10: 4-6 .400
Big 12: 7-3 .700
PAC 12: 2-6 .250
SEC: 7-4 .636

Conference Records vs Group of 5 Opponents
ACC: 12-3 .800
Big 10: 17-3 .850
Big XII: 10-1 .909
PAC 12: 11-2 .846
SEC: 20-1 .952

Vs FCS Opponents
ACC: 7-1 .875
Big 10: 8-1 .899
Big 12: 9-0 1.000
PAC 12: 10-0 1.000
SEC: 10-0 1.000

Opponents winning pct (W/L Total of all opponents already played)
Tennessee .570 winning percentage.
UGA .504
Kentucky .569
Alabama .595
Ole Miss .508
LSU: .512

The SEC East has a non conference record of 20-2
The west has a record of 19-3

You could dig even deeper but I’m typing all this out on my phone and starting to get off track…

Not yet. The two worst teams in the SEC are probably Vandy and Missouri. That makes the west more balanced. Even if the two best teams are Ga and Tennessee, the west is clearly more balanced.

Yeah I was trying to think how I would grade it out currently. Just going on rankings its:

1. UGA.
2. UT
3. Bama
4. Ole Miss
5. Kentucky
6. Miss State
7. LSU
8. Arkansas
9. South Carolina
10. Florida
11. TAMU
12. Auburn
13. Missouri
14. Vandy

Based on those averages the average rank for the west is 7.3, and 7.7 for the east. Which is probably the closest its been in a long time.

Disagree. Missouri had two chances to beat auburn while outgaining them and sh** the bed.

Missouri is definitely better than auburn. Vandy is the worst tho.
