Is there a new style of basketball being used now?

Noticed since conference tourney play started across the country that the basketballs being used have a brighter orange look to them. Almost looks like they have a bit of rubber feel vs being all leather. Anyone else notice?

Maybe that's why no one can hit the broad side of a barn. I've never seen so many big misses on the FT line. Air balls all over the place. I think that nobody is comfortable with the venue.

I don't like the sound of that

Not a rubber feel at all. It’s a mix between the Wave and Evolution balls. A little lighter than evolution and absorbs moisture better so the grip is great. I love shooting with that ball and we used Evolution balls for the last decade. I would choose this ball every day.

Outside the color, the better grip looks noticeable.

The tournament uses a Wilson ball. Teams use basketball’s that are in accordance to their shoe deals during the regular season.

Not sure we've had "leather" balls for a while. They're all a form of synthetic rubber. Main differences are in texturing I suspect. And if I'm not mistaken, most all the SEC schools use Nike balls. Auburn uses Wilson and that didn't exactly work in their favor.

Wilson in both men and women SEC tourney but most schools use Nike. Wilson is better!
