Is there any reason Wittingham, Patterson, or Briles would leave their jobs?

These are coaches with top 5 teams in major conferences with fanbases that adore them. I would much rather be at TCU or Utah than the USCs or Texas right now. What would it take for those guys to jump at these opportunities opening up?

I'd say it depends on each individual's view of their current job. If you go undefeated at Utah, TCU, or Baylor are you guaranteed a playoff spot? Are you happy where you are? Are they being compensated well? Can I recruit the kids I need?

I think it would take a real boatload of cash or a 'no' to multiple of those questions to get them to leave. Also, I'm not sure how old those guys are (I think Briles is the oldest) but that might be a factor too.

That's what people said about Bama before Saban got there. A great coach will win multiple championships at USC & Texas.

There were some rumblings re: Whittingham last offseason, but it looks like they may have smoothed it over.

Don't think Patterson and Briles will ever leave the state willingly.

It comes down to what your goals are imo .

U have a 2% chance of winning a national championship at Baylor , TCU , or Utah .

But if u are a guy who just wants to win and keep your job forever then Baylor , TCU , and Utah are for you . There expectations at those schools are around 8 games a year

He lost both of his coordinators due to better money elsewhere. Dead on about Patterson and Briles...they are the faces of their programs and can do no wrong.

Not me...USC pretty much recruits itself...4 years in LA at a tradition rich program like that is hard to pass up.

There was a reporter on the local radio here that covers the Big 12 that said there is some shady stuff going on at Baylor. I don't know that there is anything there of substance.

I'm pretty sure Texas kicked the tires regarding Briles but couldn't get him to move. I think he is a Texan through and through and wouldn't leave that state.

An Undefeated TCU, Baylor or Utah has the same shot at getting into the playoffs as an undefeated Texas, OU, USC or UCLA. They're all in Power 5 conferences now and will have played the same competition.

Well yeah...duh, considering they all play in a P5 conference. They all have a good chance of making it this year. Utah and the winner of the Baylor/TCU game.

Ft Worth Oil Men...is that a band or something? Are they like the Village People? I don't know that I'd want any favors from the Ft Worth Oil Men.

You hate LOADS of money for simply staying where you want to be, that much? :). We call these types boosters...cept ours have MUCH lighter bank accounts...and yes that includes the Haslam name.

Art Briles will be 60 years old in a month. He is not rebuilding another program; Baylor is his last coaching job & he will leave when he decides. They will build a statue soon there after. The ceiling is plenty high for MNC's at Baylor now with new facilities, Baylor swagger in recruiting, & Charlie Strong captain of the ship that used to be Texas Longhorns football.

Gary Patterson was on the hot seat just two years ago after going 4-8. He is another 4-8 season from being back on said hot seat. The Big 12 is not the MWC.

Don't quite know what to think of Utah's coach. USC is obviously a dumpster fire right now, Rich Rod is a cluster, & Oregon seems to be in a lull. Somebody has to win the Pac-12, maybe it is just Utah's turn.

Most folks would be the Village Idiot not to take home $6m-$7m at the end of the day for coaching college football. :loco:

UscW could pay but they want instant results
UscE ceiling is a SECCG game appearance.
Neither of which should be enough for any of those to job ship
