Is there ONE team in the top

Hate to tell you this but we aren’t in the top 10. So I’d say the answer is no. We were a top 10 team LAST year and we beat several. Not this year. This year, we are in the top 25 and I believe we could beat several in the top 25.

Idk. We beat Clemson with basically this same team. Clemson took FSU to overtime. I think if Tennessee somehow solidifies the Oline we can compete with a top ten team. Our secondary is still absolutely terrible, I’m not sure how Martinez still has a job at this point.

Overall, I think college football is incredibly weak this year, offensively. USC has a really good offense and so may Oregon and Washington, but the rest of the offenses are so far behind what they have been that a season with everyone having a loss or two in the top ten would not be surprising at all. Georgia is nowhere where they were last year. Michigan is still a slow B10 team that relies heavily on the power run game. They mash people but have slightly better athletes than their conference members so they win. They are a two or three loss SEC team. ACC is horrible. The FSU/LSU game was a fluke. Ohio State can't score. Penn State is a worse version of the other Big10 teams. We could beat any of them. Last year may have been the best season of college football ever. There have never been more leaded teams than last year. Last year's team, playing this season, would destroy the SEC, and it would not be close. The covid effect of all the older players being around and there being so many great college quarterbacks last year made it a special season. There hasn't been one like it in a while. No team in the top 10 is better this year than last except maybe for Washington. Penix is awesome.

Clemson had FSU beat but Dabo “clemsoned” it up.
Dabo tried to catch lightning in a bottle for a 2nd time.

Replacing the under performing veteran QB for the 5* worked out great with Trevor.

The 2nd time around hasn't gone so well so far.

Clemson is just 3-3 since replacing Uagalelei with C. Klubnik, and they've only beaten one P5 team. That includes more turnovers than TD's by Klubnik in 2 of the losses and the game costing Fumble-6 against FSU.

Posting this for the lurkers.

10 that UT could beat??? Asking for a friend!!
We are improving as the season progresses. We have not been able to beat a top twenty the first three weeks. However, we are likely to be able to do so later in the season. I think we beat SC Saturday and we will improve every week. We have the opportunity to be a very good team by the end of the season. Just depends if we can develop the attitude need to win the big games.

Clemson is C. Klubnik is 2-3

Actually Klubnik is 3-3. He didn't start against UNC in the ACCCG last year, but he played all but two series and was the game MVP.

Losses to Tennessee, Duke, and FSU.
Winston over Charleston Southern and Florida Atlantic.

Still not very impressive compared to the hype. At this point in his college career, Kelly Bryant was better.

I forgot to check the ACCCG stats. That skews my more turnovers than TD's stats I posted.

but it was a no brainer, just ask vol nation.
The Backup QB is always the best option

Probably not, we need to beat Kentucky, UCONN, Missouri , Vandy and go to the tax slayer bowl and call it a year. Win the bowl game and we are 8-5, not too bad with this bunch.

It's about matchups and if we execute the basics and play clean football, so, yes there's teams in top 10 we can beat...but there's also teams not in top 25 we can lose to. Shame in a down year for SEC that we're not in a position to take advantage. You look for progress week over week but at some point, you realize that we're, at best, just a Top 20-25 team this year. Even if we beat SC this week, we've got to show week over week consistency of execution

How are Klubnik's parents this season? Still averaging 6.3 mentions per quarter?

Asking for a friend.
They moved on to the kicker’s parents during the FSU game. They were not in good spirits after their little boy hooked a makable kick late in the fourth quarter.

At this point, the short answer is no.

By the end of the season, I go out on a limb and say yes, because of the return of
Cooper, continued development of the young linebackers and Sampson, and the
continued progress of Milton on his timing with the wr's (especially squirrel and hopefully Thornton)

On 16 October 1982, an unranked Vol squad that ended the season unranked and 6-5-1 beat #2 ranked Alabama.

The correct answer to your question is ...

Any.

Of.

Them.

Take your pessimism and rotate on it.
Epic win, but 1982 Alabama didn't end up being that good. They went 8-4 and 3-3 in the SEC. They were overrated at #2.
